so if lil g fought andre ward and knocked his head off lil g's haters would say "andre ward has leprosy...not impressed"? i mean...cmon...get real...if were saying lara is a good opponent....we mean it....were not like pac fans...they invented moving the goalpost.....

im cool with lara...win or lose....lil g could indeed knock off laras head in 2 and id say "wow...ok ....whats next"?

Lara's my top opponent for GGG, not even because I want to see you guys in the wrong, I think GGG will beat him, but still, Lara's one of the more skilled guys in the sport and I want to see GGG against a real slickster.

If we look at the evidence for A) we have:

Jacobs (never called out Golovkin, K2 have called him out)
BJS (openly admitted he was not ready for GGG)
Canelo (dropped the belt after saying he would fight GGG at 160, never sent GGG an offer yet at all; his name could yet be scrubbed from this list if they manage to negotiate a fight)

    Evidence for B):

    - Didn't push as hard as he could've for the Andre Ward fight. Could have been offering to make compromises to get the fight to happen, like Lomachenko is doing.
    - Willie Monroe Jr was admittedly a poor opponent.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
My suggestion is that we see what happens after negotiations for the September fight, it will tell us a whole lot more about which is correct. GGG needs to fight a good opponent, and if Canelo declines, send reasonable offers to Jacobs / BJS / Eubank Jr / Lara / Zurdo etc.

Obviously not, because to not give him in that situation would be beyond lunacy, not even the most hardcore haters would bother making excuses in that situation. Though any credit given would be given begrudingly so, it's more of a case of there's no choice but to give credit at this point.

i think the options there are limited....i dont see saunders or jacobs taking that fight for september...arent they booked for fights this summer? i know jacobs is booked for barclays end of july..... same with zurdo?

so basically yer looking at either eubank or lara....which im fine with either...i just think your list is basically down to only 2 realistic/possible options....

Fighting Lara is a step up, but GGG would be the obvious favorite, just like Cotto, and Canelo would be the favorite aganst a fighter like Lara.

So he gets credit for stepping up, but hardly a career defining fight, but a step up nonetheless.

Admittedly Golovkin has been pretty naive with his career, he's always had promoters who are too money-focused. I do believe he does want the big fights, but he needs to make some noises and demand that they happen. He stayed far too long with his first promoter who was much worse than K2.

July -> September is enough time, don't you think? Anyway, GGG should try.

Well I think GGG wins, and without that much difficulty. If Lara won, that'd be me proven wrong on that count, I'd say I overrated GGG because I don't underrate Lara, I think Lara's a very good fighter.

zurdo is slated on the postol/crawford undercard right? i forget the exact date of that...jacobs i think is slated for a fight, no opponent yet, at barclays center on july 30th? thats pretty late considering thats basically august 1st.......saunders is booked too isnt he?

I will admit I overrated GGG if GGG doesn't win by KO or UD.

Don't think Saunders is booked, anyway if GG has to wait until October/November for Zurdo / Jacobs that's ok imo.

i dont wanna knock the spirt of ggg as a fighter...because i dont really know what hes about or how he feels....but to be honest...imo...i dont think he really cares...i think hes fine with the way things are ...or have been going...he keeps depositing decent checks and hes on hbo and everyone is in love with him.....im not sure he ever envisioned this kind of life or success and is content riding the wave as long as he can just say "im letting my team do their work and i take care of mine in the ring" sort of thing...

    but who knows
