Nah he's just ripping off TheGOAT who was being a smartass.

But he's doing a great job filling the hugging icon void in TheGOAT's absence.

    I like Golovkin

    I like this fight

I don't like it on PPv

I figure its HBO trying desperately to create the next ppv star. Manny is basically done, Cotto is near done. Canelo is the only young ppv kind of fighter they have. GGG may not be the most talented guy HBO has or the most proven but he is a draw and it doesn't look likely that he will lose any time soon at least if he stays at his weight

My only question is whats next

If he wins and easily but the numbers aren't good he will only be a dangerous fight without much behind it

If he wins and easily and does well who can he fight, Quillin is Haymon, Jacobs is Haymon, Lee has fought on HBO and PBC Im not sure what the biz side allows there, If Cotto wins we will have to see though so far he doesn't seem too interested. Canelo if he wins might fight GGG but might also wait

I don't see where GGG goes from here on PPV, maybe its good because I remember when guys used to fight on HBO WCB and then in the bigger bouts fight on HBO PPV...Now it seems guys fight on PPV then only PPV once they are a draw

Maybe we get this fight for GGG on PPV then a stay busy on WCB and then back to ppv or this fight is PPV then a GGG 168 debut on WCB followed by a big 168 fight on PPV

At this point, fighters will want to fight GGG simply because of the reward he brings. And yes, I mean $$$.

I agree but that's because I don't think there should be boxing PPV's.

    :thumbsup

It's a disgusting abomination that's going to result in people (at least in the US) becoming less and less interested in following.

People pay to have NFL Ticket, people pay to have NBA League Pass. People pay to watch great fights. What's the big deal?

yeah they pay for nba league pass which is twice the price of this garbage fight but they get like 1000 games out of it. deontay is pulling 3 million views should he be fighting on PPV against jennings or glaskov? :patsch or are you only defending this for being ppv because it's ggg?

Is Deontay setting ticket records at Stub Hub, the Forum, and MSG as well? Is Deontay getting National exposure (ESPN, Fox Sports, etc). No? Well, there's your answer.

If you think about it, there's probably only 3-4 PPV's a year. Now less than that since Mayweather is retired. So, the difference is probably closer than you think.

No, but he's getting 3 times more views than GGG . You dont think his fights should be on PPV though right? That's what I thought.

IMO there will be no PPV worthy fights after Canelo/Cotto for a long time, unless one of those guys fights GGG, or if GGG grows a pair and fights Ward.

    Pac-Floyd ($100), Mosley-Mayorga II ($50), Floyd-Berto ($75), GGG-Lemieux ($60), Cotto-Canelo ($75)

    That's $360 for a mere 5 cards this year.

As someone living in the New York area, who only really follows baseball and football in addition to boxing, I don't have to pay anything extra to see any Yankees games or Jets games on television.

It's not a big deal, but I'm sure more people would be inclined to tune in to those fights if they didn't have to shell out the extra cash. Especially since the cards are often dull and uneventful mismatches.

Ergo, I think the sport would be healthier without all of the greed driven agendas looking to bend paying fans over.

HBO isn't taking any risk here and HBO didn't make the call to put this fight on PPV.

Well, ideally, there are no PPV's.

But boxing tends to steer as far away from whatever is ideal as much as possible.
