Golovkin vs. Macklin in the works for June 29 on HBO

I think some overrate Macklin a tiny bit, although he's very solid and no doubt a warrior for whom you can't help but to root.

For instance, people say he did better than Barker against Martinez. I disagree: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=388768

Another example; people think he got robbed blind against Sturm and some even think he ought to have beaten him wide. I disagree: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=14689766#post14689766 (although I did think he outperformed Murray)

I think Proksa of his Sylvester performance would've been similarly competitive with the winding-down version of Sturm from the last three years.

 

While those are reasonable points (I do think Macklin did better than Barker vs Martinez, as I felt Barker was more frustrating Martinez than actually taking rounds), I don't believe Macklin would of struggled with Kerry Hope hope like Proksa did the first time. Whether Hope was fortunate to get the decision or not, I doubt Macklin would of let it see the judges.

I suppose the counter argument to this is Macklin's performance vs Varon...., which is fair enough everyone has off nights.
Personally I feel Macklin is a bit better than Proksa and would beat him head to head, but then again that could just be bias as I'm a big fan of Macklin's.

Yeah I don't know why anyone would give MACKLIN much of a chance against Golovkin. He's gonna get stopped convincingly. I wanna see Golovkin in a better fighter than this! Though this is better than the Ishida fight...
