    Golovkin-Martirosyan Cable's Most-Watched Boxing Match in 2018

Viewers weren’t afforded much time, but that didn’t stop more than 1.3 million of them from tuning in to watch Gennady Golovkin’s fight Saturday night.

Nielsen Media Research ratings released Tuesday showed a peak audience of 1,361,000 watched Golovkin’s second-round knockout of Vanes Martirosyan, which HBO televised from StubHub Center in Carson, California. The brief Golovkin-Martirosyan match was watched by an average of 1,249,000 viewers, despite that it began late on the East Coast (12:07 a.m. ET).

Those ratings made Golovkin-Martirosyan the most-watched boxing match on cable television in 2018. That distinction previously belonged to Deontay Wilder’s 10th-round knockout of Luis Ortiz, which Showtime televised March 3 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn (peak: 1,200,000; average: 1,100,000).

That was a terrible UFC PPV card. I'm sure it didnt sell well at all.
Kova was in a missmatch aswell. A lot of boxing fans were waiting for Deontay to step up.

You try to hate on the guy and yet again you fail lol.

No tv in the UK ??

QUOTE="IsaL, post: 19180270, member: 11353"]Not very good at all. The fight was on May 5th, huge boxing date, and it had tons of free press coverage with the test controversy..

Golovkin would do good numbers in Europe aswell. Dont know why he isnt fighting more often in the UK.
BJS Groves and Eubank would all be high grossing fights

Most watched cable fight of 2018 in the US you say?

Against a late notice opponent with little time to promote the fight?

Said opponent being Vanes ''Bum - Jermello's Daddy'' Martin Ross Ian?

Vanes who stood zero chance of winning?

    Most watched did you say?

Even more people tuned in to watch GGG fight a late notice bum who stood zero chance of winning than the number who tuned into watch American HW champion Donkey ''The Bronze Bomber Wilder'' vs Luis Ortiz who is by far Donkey's best ever opponent?

And let me get this straight these are the US TV viewing figures not the viewing figures for Kazakhstan or somewhere else, right?

    Dayuuuum!!

The people have spoken and the message they are saying loud and clear is ''We luuuuuuv you GGG

That's funny since the article mentions GGG vs Martosian peaking at 1.38 million more then either wilder fight by your account. GGG VS Brooke did those numbers in the middle of the day in the US is pretty good... Also did over 400 thousand PVP buys in the UK.

Any real sport, we own. Soccer is a niche sport here in the states. As far as boxing. Nobody comes close to our prestige.
