Depends on the money. If Froch, Abraham, or Ward is willing to fight him, he might stay. If not, he probably heads back to 160 to continue to chase a big fight.
Not even close, it would only be his second divisional top 10 opponent. Tho extra credit for moving up just for better comp
I never saw this coming. VERY interesting indeed. GGG sure has stones stepping up to 168, as does Tommy Gunn for agreeing to fight GGG after everyone else has chickened out. A very dangerous fight for both. WOW!
Oosthuizen is a very good opponent, but he is very hittable and that isn't very good with Golovkin. Really on the fence for this one, but leaning ever slightly towards Golovkin.
Hell no. List his five best wins aloud and see if he belongs anywhere near the top 30, let alone 10...
"If Golovkin faces either of them(Tommy, Rodriguez), they would meet at a catchweight of about 165 lbs." http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/2292/geale-golovkin-a-no-go-for-now
I feel the same about Golovkin-Oosthuizen as I do Golovkin-Pirog, both could be epic fights, but all participants involved need more name recognition if those fights are to recieve the publicity they deserve. Tommy has a good resume for a 24 yo, and makes an interesting opponent. He might be able to keep GGG at distance for most of the fight and take advantage of his higher work rate, and be able to handle GGG's power when he is able to get close enough. La Bomba seems the more likely choice. He just fought in MSG on the Martinez-Macklin card, had two straight fights on HBO with plenty of fights on FNF, fought at 166lbs in his last two, four inches shorter, and struggled with Rosinsky. Tommy's name might be there just for leverage to get Rodriguez. NY fans might pay extra to see someone with the name Rodriguez get punched in the face.
Rodriguez weight 186lbs in the ring for his last fight, he's a ****ing CW. That said i think Golovkin has a easier time against Edwin and knocks him out.
168?! ****inghell, that's insane. Golovkin walks around at 155 ffs, the size difference will be mental!
What's Oostuizen's weight been at during his fights? He seems to have a bigger frame than Rodriguez. Also, have you heard any news on Korobov? I've only read little about his last fight, disappointing to see it went the distance but considering his layoff... I'm hoping he fights again in December with a step up in class.
