Floyd avoided fighting the best fighters during a hot welterweight division, instead choosing to retire smack dab in the middle of his welterweight prime for whatever reason. Him and Pacquaio also refused to fight each other for a long time, and we suffered probably the most disappointing fight of all time.

That being said, you can't really compare Floyd, a certified ATG and legend of the sport with GGG the former king of bumland... Mayweather only chased paychecks after the DLH fight, GGG has been chasing paychecks for his whole career. The man's ENTIRE career is based on a cash money fight with Canelo Alvarez, in which he lost... Like he's literally been waiting for a Canelo or shopworn midget Cotton payday all of his career. Hell, he was even willing to fight Floyd at 154 yet not Ward at 168... that tells you what kind of man he is.

He could of went up like Floyd, chased the big money fights, and fight Ward... Instead he did nothing but waste his prime and wait for the Canelo paydays in which again.. he lost.

To put it in perspective, GGG ducking Ward is like Floyd ducking Shane Mosley or Kosta Zoo, which we all know was the other way around.

Agree in parts here. People forget Floyd took being the B side to become the A side for the rest of his career, although in fairness to GGG his genuinely big fight came much later in his career. It took me late into GGG's career (and I say this as a huge fan) to realise he - like basically all of them - was just about the money, which was a bit of a let down for me. With that said, I'm not sure calling Ward at 168 a big money fight is entirely accurate. The fights his team were willing to go up for in Froch and Chavez Jr would have been considerably bigger fights to the public (though not to the purist). Besides, GGG wasn't anywhere near the name he was now and I specifically think the reason he stayed at 160 is waiting for Canelo to come up, purely for the money. From his point of view he wanted it much earlier, maybe then we'd have seen him move up to 168 and then look at having a better legacy in terms of names but I guess we can't be sure.

 

Herol will one day be a top poster, I have full confidence in him. As soon as he learns to read and write, and discovers what "grammar" is, and increases his IQ to over 50, he will be an "ATG" type of poster. I absolutely just know that he'll stop being a dumb git and become a top poster. Go, Herol!
