Incredible/ridiculous. But DAZN is overpaying everyone at present.

Ward needs to comeback and start making money. Unfortunately he seems happy to be listening to the sound of his own voice as a commentator these days.

His numbers with Canelo were big and his regular HBO ratings were really strong. Even in complete mismatches Golovkin did solid numbers.
So a fan base is there and money is to be made.
But is he worth the 100 mil they are paying him for 6 fights?

Yeah , people are getting a little carried away here.

He has 5 more fights to go to fulfill the contract , with two fights a year it means he'll be fighting until he's 40 years old. He's sure to pick up another loss or two on the way.

Look the the ring and head lights from the other night , it was a GGG promoted show. How much of that cards expenses did he have to pay for himself ?
He's also signed up fighters he wants on future under cards , he's going to have to pay for them out of his own pocket.
He's not just a fighter anymore , he's sole owner of GGG promotions and he pushed to have control over future shows which means massive over heads.
Its not just a case of walking away with $15 for beating Steve Rolls, its not as simple as that. He has 3 more years to go which will drain out a good chuck of that $100m contract money.

On the other hand Mayweather collected $300 million on ONE night for 7 rounds of easy work during his retirement. :meparto::jump1:

Here comes the witch hunt ! :manifa:

No, they will loose money on him. They will earn with third Canelo fight but his popularity will fade after that. Doubt Rolls fight made great numbers on DAZN.

Well there are other sources of revenue as well. So I don't think his own card expenses are going to be an issue.
But the Rolls card had no one of name value, at least not for any casual fan.

And Golovkin taking a loss or two more won't be an issue. It's not like fighters instantly loose their drawing power. Broner has been getting his ass kicked for a while now and his ratings have only taken a small hit. He is still a top draw. (Second place on regular SHO after Wilder)
If they keep stacking Golovkin against fighters with name value, he will remain relevant. Even after some losses.

Might pay off in the long run. They are overpaying for talent at the moment but down the line it could pay off.

Broner is a guy who turns up to give other guys a name on their record. You are suggesting Golovkin is on way to becoming the new Broner.. Lolol.. :nut:

No... I said that even if Golovkin takes a loss or two, his draw ability wont take a big hit at all.
I just used Broner as an example of someone who has taken some losses, but remained a big draw.

Nobody wants to put losses on their record , especially not a guy like Golovkin. Drawing up a compassion to freaking Broner doesn't justify your argument in any way. :qmeparto:

    Wtf are you talking about?
The point was the Golovkin is being overpaid and he is getting old. So if he happens to take a few losses it would not hurt his marketability.
I brought up Broner because he is a popular fighter who has taken losses, yet his popularity has barely taken a hit.
De La Hoya kept taking losses and still delivered massive numbers.
Cotto lost two fights back to back and delivered HBO's biggest rating of the year(against Rodriguez).

Golovkin taking a loss won't hurt him at all.

That is not true. Most people did not score two consecutive close fights to GGG. If you don't know that, take a course in statistics.

For me Dazn is more than worth the money I pay, it’s like $10 per month and I already watched canelo, joshua, ggg . Considering all those other streaming services I pay for but never watch , this is a steal for me, but no way they making money, at least not yet, if they pay GGG 15 mil to fight a bum.

The $15 mill GGG earned for 10 minutes work against Steve ''Jelly'' Rolls might not have ecplised Dre's career earnings (albeit it might have after James Prince took his cut) but the $30 mill (at least $30 mill) he earned for the Clenelo rematch sure as hell will have. Dre's entire career earnings. Let that sink in.
