Kirk was more hurt than outgassed in the Canelo fight. He just looked outgassed and out of shape because all the shape, fight and gas was beaten out of him.

Well, seeing how Kirk did against Glen Tapia one would not expect Kirk to suddenly gas out after one round. Tapia was on the ropes during almost the entire twelve rounds with Kirk relentlessly forcing the action. If indeed Kirk had been weighing 200 pounds months before the fight his body sure didn't show traces in that fight. He looked trim and fit and proudly confident.

Canelo leans on the ropes because he wants to emulate Mayweather. Even Mayweather himself has openly admitted that Canelo uses many of his moves and showed an interest in coaching him.
