GGG isnt a midget he's practically the same height as Ward Ward could still dip under them, although GGG does crouch quite low as well and must have a strong core and legs
GGG is tiny, about the same size as a welter. Ward would bully him around the ring and bash him up. Mismatch.
Ward has a couple of inches on GGG. Difference between Kov and GGG is that GGG likes to fight rough and tough on the inside. That's not really Kov's game. Ward would be in the fight and he might be able to win if he can tie up GGG. I just don't think it happens, particularly right now as Ward seems to have lost some luster from his best days in the Super Six. But you never know.
GGG next to Kovalev looks nearly the same as Ward next to Kovalev I reckon. Must be 1inch max difference, Martin Murray is 6ft and just a 1/2 inch taller than GGG. Geale is listed at 5ft11 sometimes and GGG is clearly tall than him Macklin is 5ft10, Lemieux is 5ft9.5 and GGG towers over them GGG is atleast 5ft11 and Ward is about 6ft
GGG is listed between 5' 10" and 5' 10 1/2". Ward is 6' I think. Not much difference, but he's shorter than both Kovalev and Ward.
Love to see the Fight...but wont happen to bigger difference in size.....would be 50/50 if it did happen...
Yeah , Ward is totally going to use the exact same defensive strategy he used against Kovalev against GGG. As if he isn't aware there's a difference between the two fighters.
GGG would completely and absolutely without question annihilate ward from the ground up. He'd cut the ring off until Ward couldn't breath. There simply would be no let up. Ward would not be able to deal with the kind of pressure GGG puts on you. You saw his eyes when kovalev connected flush on his face. Well he'd hyperventilate when GGG begins putting it on him He'd also walk through and smile at Wards stabbing jabs for what looked as though the same made Kovalev wary. GGG would put more focus on body shots, which Kovalev failed to execute if at all except during the last few rounds when he realised himself he was running out of steam due to Wards diligence of targeting the same area. Every second of that fight, I saw weaknesses that GGG would have a field day exploiting just for the hell of it.
GGG has no defense plus he misses a lot of shots in the middle of the ring. Mostly lands when he has guys against the ropes. It would be the first fight where he would be bullied instead of being the bully just like Kov. Ward would be the bigger stronger fighter. Size does matter. Only thing that negates size is speed which GGG doesn't have as well. If the fight is signed you guys would start to panic and start making pre fight excuse threads just with this Kovalev fight. None of you really believe GGG can win this fight. You just hope he lands a KO punch. We've already seen that scenario play out. Just give it a rest and accept reality.
If Golovkin had the gonads to fight a ring rusty , inactive Ward when he had the opportunity , you would have witnessed the biggest exposing and trashing of a hypejob since Lacy had the career slapped out of him in Manchester 10 years ago. A guy like GGG is Ward bread n butter. Kell showed how he could be beaten to the punch with speed and exposed his almost non existent defence. You would be shocked at how easy and at how frequent Ward snaps his head back while he throws those slow , stupid telegraphed molasses like hayemakers. He avoided Ward like the plague for a reason. And Lara. He and his trainer know full well those guys are all wrong for him. Ive said it before. We haven't seen the end of this guys ducking. There's plenty more to come.
What on earth are you talking about? Firstly no one is making excuses on behalf of the kovalev fight, because there is no need for them as we the boxing purists know who the real winner was. Secondly size rarely matters in boxing certainly in the lower weight classes otherwise fonfara who stands at 6,3 would be competing for the P4P title in the LHW division. Thirdly GGG is a totally different type of fighter to kovalev. Just because both have menacing power does not mean you become a simpleton and reduce him down to a mere ko brawler who widely swings and hopes. He done that in one fight against Brook who he wanted to show had no business being at middleweight and so wanted to get rid early. In most of his other fights with natural middleweights, if you bothered to watch, he usually boxes and waits patiently for openings. As for Andre Ward, he already displayed his vulnerabilities against Kovalev and lucky for him, he got hurt towards the end of the round. If it had been earlier the fight would have been put to bed in the 2nd round.
