Against Yordanis Despaigne World Cup - 2005 for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxdR4W10eOo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DT-8E_znao He had a various style of boxing in the amateurs - including good defense with lots of feints. Seems that GGG needs to change his trainer Abel Sanchez who's trying to change his style to be more appealing to Americans. He took a lot of power punches from Proksa and Rosado.
No need to change trainers. He's fighting very smart for the pros, based on his competition to date. However, when he finally meets a fast KO artist, if he doesn't THEN change his defense it will be a problem. I expect we WILL see a different Golovkin once that happens. He also beat the living **** out of them. One of he biggest misconceptions about boxing is that one needs to be some sort of slickster or defensive genius to reach the elite level, but in reality, a puncher-boxer like GGG only needs to take less shots than he hands out, and he'll win. Of the many styles this is his most natural - it does leave marks on his face, it does shorten his career, but it also maximizes the combination of exquisite timing, intelligent punch selection and outstanding power. Today's fans would ask Julio Cesar Chavez to hire a slick black trainer every time he gets a bloody nose. Ridiculous.
