Time well tell. But my theory doesnt revolve around Rubio being grateful per se, it revolves around SHO taking any available angle to increase odds of getting one of their guys a lineal shot before GGG because of the long term promotional consequences. Favor aspect just a sweetener that would open doors, except big purses and contract ops as well.

They have a lot better shot at getting a SHO fighter in the ring with Rubio or signing Rubio to SHO especially if they move fast and GGG isnt built into PPV draw yet than they do getting a SHO fighter in with Martinez who has 2 HBO fights left.

You might be confident that Martinez beats Rubio, but between age, injury and long recovery time his next performance is a big question mark.

HBO play: Build GGG in spring -> fall torch passing PPV
SHO Play: Make sure Martinez fights at 160 for titles with guy they have a chance of buying and beat HBO to punch

It is sadly ironic how the very best MW we have seen since BHOP many many many yrs ago, can not give legitimacy to his title without seeking out contenders from other weight classes.

He obviously the least winnable fight, but is largely considered to have the weaker resume of Barker, himself and Sergio. He is the highest payday for an opponent right now, offering 500K, but these guys would rather go after Barker for about 1/2.:huh

See, I just can't picture this. Rubio is chasing Martinez AND Chavez Jr, and these guys are on HBO. That's what it comes down to for me, Rubio ain't defecting to SHO for any reason whatsoever IMO. All of SHO's cash is going towards 154 downwards, Quillin/Jacobs -whoever wins- is bound to remain an undercard fighter.

Cotto signs to fight Alvarez (despite my wish to see him fight Martinez), Martinez comes back and wins a wide UD over Rubio then cashes out against Golovkin. Hopefully they bring out that crown they once put on Sergio's head, Golovkin's smile would be priceless.

    :bbb

I can't wait til GGG gets exposed for the one dimensional club slugger he is. Once that happens we can all move on from this hypejob.

Golovkin is the best middleweight in the world today!!! Quillin gets diarrhea whenever name is mentioned. Martinez? He might fight Golovkin if the big money is there, as much as I like Martinez, Golovkin would knock him out.

Golovkin wants to fight Void at 154, but Void fainted when he heard Golovkin's name mentioned! Void is truly void...........

Yes, I just read that Murray refused to fight Golovkin. Murray has a very good reason to stay away from Golovkin, he would get knocked out cold!!! Quillin will not fight Golovkin. I really believe that Martinez will, unless he can get Void into a ring at 154 which I doubt very much. Void fighting Con is a disgrace...........

    2. and he had them both

exactly....and thats why the ABC organizations are killing boxing and preventing the good fights. and no, there are not 4 belts now....if you add the interim belts (which apparently count these days for some reason) as well as the WBA having 3 per division (SUPER, regular, interim) there are actually 8 or 9 belts at a given time if there are none vacant.....which is PATHETIC
