I hope not. I am a big GGG fan, but fan or no I dont like tuneup fights headlining on premium cable. If you are going to make the big $$, the fans deserve the best fight that can be found.

If he takes a Euro fight off primetime HBO, like Ishida or Adama, while I hope HBO carries it (similar to Murray - HBO doesnt foot the majority of the bill, for Murray they just paid a regional license to Octapix, much smaller payout than a regular HBO event ) then a tuneup would be acceptable.

But if HBO foots the bulk of purse, it should be the best available guy.

these ARE stay-busy fights relative to his ability. everyone at middleweight is just that for him at this point, including Cotto and Quillin.

Cotto, Martinez, or Canelo would all be acceptable opponents. Cotto, so we could unify the belts. Martinez, to give GGG some added legitimacy. Canelo, because they are about the same size, both stars and it would actually be competitive. I'd add Lee and Quillin, but they are fighting in April and wouldn't want to fight again so soon.

Cotto would be the obvious choice.

Anyway Daniel Jacobs or Martinez would be decent fights for GGG since Cotto , Quillin, Lee, Lemieux and N'Dam will be mixed in fights.

Lara signed a deal with Showtime, which is why he's calling out HBO fighters, knowing full well the fights can't get made.

They said may 16th and not may 9th. Also, Canelo fights may 9th how do you figure GGG fights on the same date?

A fit Andre Ward with a couple fights under his belt is the only realistic bet to beat Golovkin......it would be a huge fight.

Andy Lee. Not that Andy Lee is the most formidable opponent out there. It's just that Lee seems to be the only guy around with the moxey to fight anybody and everybody.
