"I think so, I think it's a great fight between Gennady and Danny Jacobs and it gives Jacobs the opportunity, he's the 'regular' WBA title holder and Gennady's got four of the titles. So I think it will be a fight between two top middleweights." As for which date Loeffler has in mind, he says - "It really depends on how (the negotiation) progresses and how we can make the agreement but it could be November or December for the fight." I really hope this fight happens this year and not fell apart like CEJ fight did. Loeffler better have more options fo GGG.
I thought GGG wanted BJS over Jacobs. Wouldn't they push harder for BJS or do they think that just isn't a possibility and they are pulling for this one instead?
It can't fall apart. Someone would have to forfeit that belt. Tom says he has known Haymon for years so it should not be a problem like GGG vs Wade was smooth. Now it's up to Jacobs and Golovkin who will be fighting a man who is taller and has a longer reach and real championship experience. Jacobs will be facing a hard hitting opponent so he "WILL" fight cautious. I'm pretty sure whatever happens in the fight you guys will call Jacobs a runner for not standing there and getting hit, but if he batters on GGG and he backs up it will be considered "defensive maneuvering".
And I'm pretty sure when Golovkin breaks Jacobs' face and/or ribs you will say GGG was "outboxed" despite throwing & landing more shots and scoring the KO/TKO.
Bro. Those negotiations are between the fighter and the other promoter. Haymon is truly an advisor to the letter. He gets people paid what they want to get if he can. Everyone is upset about Broner and Garcia turning down Pacquiao but forget Khan fighting Canelo, Joshua vs he will not be named, Lomachenko vs Russell Jr....
All I'm saying is that the negotiations for a fighter and his low ranked mandatory are going to be different than the arguable #1 and #2 in the division. There's no reason to assume the latter will be a success just because the former was.
I hope this fight is next. Tom Loeffler seems to be willing to work with all promoters so I think the deal can get done. The onus is on Haymon. Jacobs is a good guy and a good fighter. Plus let's finally get this mandatory out of the way. If Triple G wins there are only 2 fights worth for him at middle BJS for all the belts and canyellow
Biggest fight in both men's careers up to this point. I don't know how good Jacob's chin is, but if he can handle Gennday's shots he can make this an entertaining fight. I really hope this fight materializes but I don't have any issues with Golovkin fighting Saunders either. Both are a step up in competition compared to a blown up Welterweight.
Jacobs will get knocked out. There's no point in analyzing this fight seriously, there's only one outcome here.
He probably wants BJS more, which is very understandable, but he has to honor his mandatories. It's much easier if you don't have to and can pick any opponent you want, where and when you want him, but GGG isn't Floyd and doesn't have that luxery. Let's see if this doesn't go to pursebids. I would be surprised if it doesn't.
