I remember a thread on here that had a link to amateur boxing records and somebody posted a thread to Golovkin's. It didn't have his entire record but his record in his final 90 fights was roughly 70 wins 20 defeats including a loss to Andre Dirrell which he avenged. Does anybody have a link to that thread or just the page.

I'm not dissing Golovkin either because I think he is a great in the making, has a stellar amateur resume and his pro resume isn't as bad as some make out either plus he has been ducked a lot.

However I do believe the 345-5 record is a lie.

You talking about this one? I've never seen one saying he lost 20 times. Says he has 8 loses on here.

I think there was something like 8 or 9 losses on the thread I remember ... they included 1 or 2 debateable one ones (such as a loss to Despaigne(?) in the Olympic test event... 2 months b4 Olympics and not one where you'ld go flat out) and also the loss to Dirrell in the US vs Kazakhstan comp (in the US) by 1pt I think.

It seems pretty certain that he has a few more losses than the 5 advertised but there may be some explaination/ excuse/ rationale for it (perhaps only including AIBA recognised or sanctioned events?).

No worries. Maybe those three additional loses, assuming that partial record is correct, are fights where he felt he was robbed and he just has five legitimate loses? I think Beterbiev said he had a few less loses than he does once in an interview and he made it clear he only counts genuine loses. Beterbiev was robbed in major tournaments like the Olympics and world championships and he also lost close decisions in them too a few times.

Wikipedia has been many times caught in lies and they don't care. It's a way for a group to control the information we consume.

    It is not always factual.

The amount of guys on wiki who have perfectly rounded numbers of amateurs fights is silly. Fighters always seem to have a record of 95-5 or 140-10. Obviously those figures are rounded out. Truth is unless you have had a very low number of amateur fights or have someone keeping track for you since day one, it's difficult to give a precise figure on amateur fights.

Strefa are as close to a "boxrec for amateur boxing" as we have.
