After unfair Olympic finals decision, GGG was left all alone, without getting an aid from the government. Soon after the Kazakh boxing association took away his boxing scholarship which was basically he's salary for helping his family, and parents. Time has passed, and he got a call from Europe, Germany that their promotions are interested in signing the professional contract with him. Unfortunately, he was told by kazakh boxing association that, if he leaves and fails his professional debut, he will not be allowed to resume his amateur career back again. So GGG took a risk, all alone at just 25 years old, left his small hometown Maikuduk, and pursued his professional career. Somehow he faced another challenge, for over 5 years the promotions in Germany couldn't find him the real title fight, which made him move on to USA, taking only one hand back. Soon after the success came in, the new contracts, title fight and so on, he dominated the middle division for 10 years. Until he faced the dirty promotions Golden Boys and Canelo, which eventually got him robbed twise. That's life of boxing and life of GGG. But he will be back stronger and technical, just like he used to be in amateurs.

This horrendous tragedy ends with GGG banking tens of millions.

GGG wasn't robbed and he should be grateful to Canelo for the paydays.

Yeah, seriously. I'd like to have some "tragedies" like this befall me.

Like others, I think Golovkin should have gotten the nod in both fights. But they were close, far too close to inoculate Gennady against the influence of boxing politics, and economics. There's more money to be made with Alvarez going forward, and the boxing establishment knows this.

He is a genuinely good person. In another life he might have been a nurse or physician. Though you wouldnt want him doing a hammer test on your knee.

    erm that's not really hearbreaking.

Look I think he clearly won last night. But he's wealthy, popular, got lots of options after boxing etc etc. Not exactly tragic he "lost"

I feel more for Canelo who will always be a ginger chav.

He is not done, even if he retires I see him as a world class trainer.
