Golovkin's style wouldn't work at 168 at all

Trip G is an excellent MW and a natural. I would love to see him stay at that weight and clean it up but I won't even pretend that he can do that at 168. You gents can fantisise all you want but Ward would tear his ass up and I suspect Froch would too.

That's what I was trying to say when I first got on this site, but I got bashed relentlessly:lol: GGG is great MW, but SMW is a big ask.

But wouldn't you rather see him fight at 168, test himself and maybe lose rather than fight at 160 and have no real competition? At least if he goes up we (and he) will know for sure. If he stays at 160 forever people will always wonder if he could have done done more and been successful at 168.

Also many fighters have moved up in weight. Pacquiao went up a lot of weights, Bradley went up, Cotto went up etc.

Yeah, I'd pick Ward over Golovkin as well, his footwork, all around defense (ropes, inside, outside) is just all around too good, too much movement for Golovkin to trap him and set up his combinations.

Ward has an excellent jab and that'd be big trouble for Golovkin, not to mention his inside game is second to none in the game, very strong, he'd probably be able to push Golovkin around.

I give Golovkin a puncher's chance, Ward will get tagged more than he usually does as Golovkin has great timing so it depends if he can take Golovkin's power (which may not carry up in weight all that well).
