[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4uewWZTqn4&feature=player_detailpage[/ame] which game plan do u think Roach will have for Martinez fight ? - going straight to war and pressure Martinez with hooks&uppercuts to the body - make Martinez to come forward to fight and then counter him with body and head shots - use more the jab and 1-2 combo - other strategies ..... your thoughts ?!
test the waters then try and get him on the ropes Sergio's plan is to stay off the ropes and circle around the big fella pot shotting and outpointing. lmao Marquez looks like a midget
Chavez HAS to start fast & early with the pressure & body attack. Pin Sergio against the ropes use your size & stay close nullify Sergio's reach. IF they try & "Box" waiting for the usual Martinez 9-11th rd (Wind) They wil be giving away too many rds. Go for the kill.
well, Martinez due his footwork is very hard to catch on the ropes and if Jr will do it I doubt Martinez will stay there and take shots. but at the end of the day the winner is the guy who succeeds to impose better his game plan.
Game plan ? Chavez only knows one way to fight. this is either gonna look like margo/cotto 1 or margo/pac, ill go with the latter
Marquez says it best. Chavez needs to be in 100% percent top shape if he wants to win. I think that if Chavez gets tires, Martinez will eat him up.
Chavez will lose, because he's putting all his faith in his chin. Book that. Watch the face off. How he can win (In my opinion) He needs to be in top shape. Make 160lbs healthy and then re-hydrate to 175ish, so he's a little lighter on his feet than usual. Martinez is going to move. Chavez will need to chase him. Spar movers, but spar guys who can bang too. The only way you can condition yourself to get hit, is to get hit. Chavez needs to establish his jab in this fight, that's a must. Move in behind a double jab. Dipping slightly as he does so. Then throw a hard punch to the body, keeping the other hand up high as a defense to the counter punch that will be coming. Martinez can be manouvered towards the ropes. If Chavez can cut the ring off effectively. Maul Sergio there. Use his brain here. Turn his shoulder at an angle, rather than square. Use that left shoulder to cut off Sergio's escape to Chavez's left, then throw to the body with the right. (Come back with the left too. It's a top rank card. Punches in bunches will be good for JCC JR) Punch Martinez in the hip bones. Take his legs away. Watch Trinidad vs Vargas. Tito lands to the hips of Fernando, and the Mexican loses his quickness of foot, opening him up to Trinidad's power. Same concept. It's an old Latin trick, which is borderline legal. If Martinez can't work his feet, then he's in real troube. Mentality : Chavez will get hit in this fight. He can't get discouraged. Pressure Martinez, come forward and impose your size. Don't bother taunting him, just keep coming, like a train. Keep touching him, keep reminding him that there's plenty of fight left in you.
Chavez' only chance is to go heavily to the body, force Sergio into close range engagements. Rough him up, force him into the ropes, keep things at the wrong range for Sergio to escape an engagement cleanly. If he doesn't, Sergio dances on the outside, counters him to death with superior speed, cuts him up, swells him, and turns Chavez into a punching bag for 12 rounds, unless he gets tired. (Sergio does have the habit of taking rounds off or needing a second wind, being 37 and all.)
Excellent breakdown :good .. But indeed, Chavez will lose! He won't be able to rely on his chin forever!
In case anyone doesn't speak Spanish, I translated this one a while back: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=416292
