Gomez the igger man but they'll still weigh the same on fight night and weighn in. I pick Cotto easy but with these odds, im def layin on gomez.
Gomez isn't going to do **** in this fight. Look at the type of fighter he is- similar to Cotto without power or speed. His money punch is a left hook to the body, which means he will have to hook with a hooker and after a few rounds of doing this he will be done. Cotto inside of 4-5 rounds.
On the Manfredo second fight, all the Contender fights were at 160, and it was only a week after Alfonso had fought his previous opponent, who was a tougher fight than Manfredo's opponent to get into the next round. Alfonso's jaw was still badly swollen going into the second Manfredo fight, and he still made it a close fight. That said, I don't think there will be much of a size difference between the two, so I don't think of that as a positive for Alfonso. Cotto has come in for years on fight night around 156-160, Alfonso is the same deal. He's a bit longer and taller than Cotto but that's it.
You think? I agree that Cotto will probably stop him. But I think Gomez will make it interesting for the first half.
cotto is my favorite fighter but i also like gomez and have ever since the contender. i think cotto will win, but i can see this being competitive for at least 4-5 rounds. gomez may not have a big enough punch to keep cotto off him, but if he boxes smart, like malignaggi (another feather-fisted fighter), he may be able to make it through all 12 rounds. Regardless, he will look like hell when the final bell rings. still give me a shot for at least 5 rounds.
Cotto is going to show us the meaning of pedigree. Its going to be the difference between a fast street dog and a real grey hound.
Cotto is going to brutalize him. He has a similar style to Cotto as one poster said. But Cotto is just better at everything. Its going to be an early night for Cotto.
Why people picking Cotto to KO him early? He has NEVER been knocked out, and I hear that he has fought at 160, that means he might have fought bigger punchers than Cotto. I expect this to be a blowout, but I'm not sure about a knockout.
Well people forget that Manfredo is actually pretty good. He gave Lacy a tough fight, and no one in their right mind would pick Cotto being competitive with Lacy...and Gomez beat Manfredo (who probably hits harder than Cotto, as he's much bigger), though Manfredo improved since that loss. Gomez will give him hell, but Cotto will pull through and win a decision. I figure Gomez will make a much better fight of it than Urkal did, and he seems to be much bigger, better and tougher than Urkal as well.
