Great win for Gomez. Alfonzo Gomez outboxes Gatti through the fight and finally lands very solid shots on Gatti in the 7th round to knock him down and the reff stops the fight. Even though Gatti may be shot, Gomez's performance was just awesome, great effective counterpunching, good timing, very composed. I am impressed with Gomez and liked him since the contender, he may be able to do a lot more in the future.
Post fight interview Gomez doesn't think highly of himself, "If I lose I lose, If I win I win" and calls out Chavez Jr. to see if he really is the next Mexican idol.
