Gomez turned down Arthur rematch

Weight drained imo is why he has looked crap against Foster & Cook, he is better than both of them but looked sluggish.

 

Cook gave him a boxing lesson far worse than what MAB did to Naz. He always looks sluggish to me. Watch the Burns fight and see how easily Burns was catching him. If Burns had a big shot in his arsenal he would have ko's arsehole arthur.

 

Arthur was never as good as he thought he was. Maybe he's drained at the weight but if he moves up he gives up size and strength which are about his only advantages....so either way he's ****ed.
He's also too obsessed with portraying himself as some kind of great guy and bible thumper like Holyfield..praying in his corner between rounds and talking to his opponent during the fight etc.....weird. At least he doesn't constantly refer to himself in the 3rd person like Wicky.

 

One of the most entertaining fights I've seen that one was. I remember going over to a mates for a few cans yo watch it before heading out for the night. He'd just got a new surround sound system and big huge tv. Cracking bout it turned out to be and one I'm sure I won't ever forget.

I'd love to see Gomez take the fight IF he is still capable of doing himself justice. I know there is the question of the money being right. And, to be fair, I doubt Gomez is in a position to turn down a big payday regardless of whether or not he can do himself justice.

Jeff seems to know him a bit. Whats the verdict then Jeff? Can Gomez come up with the goods and do a number on the lad and give us a look at Unconscious Alex Arthur all over again?

If the moneys right I*'m pretty sure the fight we'll be made. Gomez is in a good position at the moment. His new trainer is doing a fantastic job and he is as healthy and fit as i've ever seen him (Christmas celebrations aside). Gomez trades on strength and fitness and currently he is benefitting from living a lifestyle that allows him to maximise his effectiveness in those areas. I think there are a number of good fights out there for Mike and those of you who say he's shot are in for a big suprise.

 

I'm not really one of those who thinks his shot, a little past his best maybe.I always found gomez to be a bully of a fighter, good on top but when his punches have no effect he loses confidence and catches everything coming his way.Exciting because you never know if he's gonna win or lose.Arthur, if he's learned anything from the last time should take it imo. Would love to see it !

 

I agree Brummy, I'm not daft- Gomez is not the fighter who beat Leva Krivanwhatever and Alex Arthur but he has enough to beat some of the current pretenders. He is working on getting back to his boxing and if he can transfer what he does in the gym to the ring we may see a couple more years from Gomez. He has a beautiful jab which he doesn't use nearly enough and when he's thinking about his approach he picks his punches so well.

Correct... Kevin is a brilliant trainer. He is keen to learn and develop his skillls in the sport. He also has a very keen eye for detail- I think he has a great future as a trainer I really do. Steve Wood I think is Gomez' current promoter.

 

IMHO Gomez has been shot for a long while, but might still beat average Alex, he was past his best the first time they fought and look what happened.

 

Jeff, would you be a good man and list who you've sparred, and tell me what qualities you remember from them. I know you've sparred gomez, would like to hear about the difference's in each fighter(not comparing them).If you got the time that is. Want a professional analysis:good
