Who take's it? I will go with Gomez by TKO or KO.

And a one-sided one at that. Pacquiao was leagues behind Gomez technically at that weight, and physically held no real edges IMO either.

    Be absolutely brutal whatever happened.

Remember the Pintor fight?, a war if I have ever seen one.

I really do give Pac a big chance in this fight, his quicker hands would slice through Gomez's pourous defence a lot. Gomez has shown he can take a licking, that probably would be the difference.
He had some heavy hands and was certainly battle tested...Tough one to call actually.

But I just picture the way Sanchez was breaking him down, and how he bounces up and down on the spot then thrusts forward. Pac could do that, maybe not as well but people underrate Pac's ability to judge the distance and avoid shots. He hasnt got a classic defence but he uses his athletic ability to stay out of trouble. I think he could counterpunch Gomez very regularly, how Gomez took this over time Im not sure. Because he has been worn down before and come back, but sometimes he hasnt.

Very torn. Ill will go with Pac last TKO though, reluctanly.

Watch footage of Gomez pre-Sanchez, when he was at his true best. Pacquiao is just levels below him technically. I don't even see it as being that competitive to be honest. I'd have taken Pintor to have stopped Pacquiao late as well.

I thought he was relatively crude and slow of hand in the film I have seen. His offensive ability was very good but he often got tagged through his wide shots, he often plodded.

Technically better than Pac I wont disagree with but I havent seen to much that will convince me that he is miles ahead.

Pac was a weapon at the weight aswell.

Well theres the clincher...Ive seen the Kobayshi and Zarate fights but I dont think Ive seen much else of his pre Sanchez days. He looked great in those but I didnt think he had faded that much. Only seem them the once though, probably didnt study them close enough.

A mate of mine had a lot of footage of him later on such as the Nelson fight, of course Pintor, Laporte etc.

Gomez was destructive at 122. He had great boxing skills also. Sanchez hurt him early and I'm not sure he ever got his legs back. He was well past it by the time he fought Nelson. I think he'd stop Pac in around 10 rounds.

Gomez was a technical genius with brilliant footwork for most of his career.

He'd largely lost his reflexes by the Pintor fight and just got off to a terrible start against Sanchez that he didn't really recover from.opting to go to war rather than box for the rest of the fight in an attempt to get back into it.

You simply have to watch more film. You said you've seen the Zarate fight? How on Earth could you have come to that conclusion? What about him was crude? A plodder? His footwork and movement were top notch. He was a great punch picker as well, very accurate, and one of the best finishers of all time. He also was quite a bit more skilled defensively early on due to his tendancy to box more. When he got into slugfests he was quite open, but you were also open to his assault, as was shown against Pintor with a past prime Gomez. I don't understand where you're coming from or if it's just been a while since you've seen the footage.

The higher up the weight is, the more Pacquiao is favoured. He'd win at 130lbs as easily as Gomez would at 122lbs. At featherweight, it would be very interesting.

Absolute war this. Shame the two couldn't compete in the same era as one another. Gomez has been dropped in his 122 lbs days, so its not beyond realm of possibility that Manny could inflict some serious damage, particularly with the power he has to spare. No doubt about it, any day of the week, Gomez will start as the favourite, but with his propensity to bang and act all macho, there's always the chance he could fall foul to a sucker-punch.

I'll vouch early Gomez was a surprising study. The way he slipped punches and countered is eye opening. Tho not exactly ATG's he absolutely appeared to be toying with many opponents. Freakish abilities, if memory serves me right he was considered the premier fighting machine on earth at one time.

Bazooka Gomez was an unbelieveable fighter, who would have too many tools for Pacman. He lost to Sanchez (but Sanchez was an all time great) He was a true boxer-PUNCHER, with very heavy hands. I think he`d crowd Pacman and work him over inside. Much like Morales did to Pacman first time. And Gomez is leagues better than Morales. Realistically we are talking about the best 122 pdr. ever in Gomez... Gomez mid round stoppage. Not late rd, Gomez hits too hard...
