The Japanese website SportsNavi has an article today on World Victory Road's plans to hold a lightweight tournament on August 23. According to the article, it looks to be an 8-man 1-day tournament. The winner will fight Takanori Gomi for the Sengoku Lightweight Title. Satoru Kitaoka and Eiji Mitsuoka have already been named as participants.

What happened to his PRIDE lightweight title. Is that now completely unrecognised now that the UFC owns the name?

i have no idea how this all works...all i know is that gomi is supposed to fight over there...Personally Sengoku reminds me of "rings". Now , i know that "rings" had incredibly limited rules but the production & overall mood of sengoku's events have some similitudes here and there...I don't think they'll be able to compete with "dreams" (unofficially ...pride fc )...on the long run. (that is , if dreams keeps slowly but surely proposing quality cards , with quality match ups etc...)...But it's always nice to have a new org , to have something that goes against ufc's system.

Some members around the eastsideboxing forums think that i'm the type who "hates" everything which is related to the ufc just cause i'm a childish "fanboy"...but it isn't the case.

I hate ufc's monopoly , dictature that they're trying to impose on this sport. that's all...and Mr Dana white and co are the incarnation and direct cause of this problem.
