I agree with too many fighters per division but the merger doesn't take effect until Jan so Gonzaga could still be in 1 more do or die fight which would really show if he deserves to be in or out of the UFC over less fighters like Barry, Kongo and co.

Coleman wasn't clearly done as he beat Bonnar and was main event vs Couture. He has looked clearly done for years BUT on paper he beat Bonnar and was a main event so they have no argument without being hypocrites.

It's probably to do with the performance. Dana hates a poor performance.

    Some good points though.

I wonder if they tell these guys beforehand, "look if you lose this one, you're gone". When guys like Gonzaga stand and box when, if they got it to ground, would totally own 95% of their division I have to wonder if they're thinking "I should be exciting to try to make a bonus" rather than "I should try to win to make more money in the long run".

Cutting guys like Coleman who are horrible over the hill jokes with a name makes sense, but cutting guys like Gonzaga and Cote for losing to guys who are a) middle to upper middle of the pack fighters and b) horrible style match ups for them doesn't make any sense to me at all. It's not like they lost to a grappler in their UFC debut or in Cote's case a kickboxer. Those guys could beat most of the guys in their weight class.

Unless Dana would be worried about Gonzaga KO's Lesnar, I'm surprised the UFC don't want to keep Gonzaga around as say Brock's next opponent.

I've always thought that Gabe would be a nightmare opponent for Brock.

Agreed. However, he would smash him up stood up, and if he takes him down he would be playing into Gonzagas real expertise IMO.
