Yeah, he has always been fragile as hell, but the guy was/is still a helluva fighter.

While no one can deny he was chinny, don't forget that he had dropped Nisioka hard and was seemingly in control of that fighter before eating a fastball from a serious, serious puncher, whose signature punch was incidently the same weird left hand bolo/hook/uppercut hybrid he waxed Jhonny with.

And before that, he Gonzalez was even more dominant against the brilliant Penalosa, winning basically every round in clear fashion. It was a match between two intelligent, athletic boxer's who both had venom in their fists. Penalosa had a atg (possibly GOAT for lower weights) durability. Gonzalez didn't. Still an inspired performance against a IBHOF contender.

And there's no shame in losing to Izzy Vasquez in the way Jhonny did. Vasquez had finally hit his stride after years of hot and cold streaks and Jhonny dropped him two or three times and was leading the back and forth war until Vasquez ran him down and finished it. We later found out that Jhonny dished out so much punishment that it took Vasquez two months to recover physically.

Tonight Jhonny got caught, he froze, and got finished. Losing to a fighter as physically gifted as GRJ doesn't negate wins over Fernando Montiel, Mark Johnson, Abner Mares, Jorge Arce, Hasagawa, Vorapin, Adonis Rivas, Irene Pacheco, and plenty of other excellent fighters.
