The Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao fight will sell on the strength of it's main event and main event alone. How many people do you know who claim to be boxing fans but only ever watch Mayweather or Pacquaio?

Two guys that would not make a lot of money on a bill of their own are Roman Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Estrada. They are two pound for pound level performers who fought in a classic in 2012, both enhanced their reputations since and is probably the most demanded fight via the hardest of hardocre fans- thus those who have grown tired of Mayweather and Pacquiao's shenanigans over the years may well be tempted to get the fight on PPV.

Neither would demand a huge sum for the exposure. Bare in mind people who shelled out for Mayweathers last PPV had to sit through a stinker like Bey v Vazquez (who earned $575,000 between them), and mismatch like Santa Cruz v Roman (who earned $800,000 between them).

Gonzalez v Estrada would be neither a mismatch, nor a stinker and would not leave fans feeling short changed from whatever they paid for the PPV if they feel like it's just one fight.

Thus it would be beneficial to HBO/ Showtime to showcase these two elite talents in an absolute war, and would leave fans thirsty for more of them.

    Gonzalez v Estrada 1:

:good It would probably be a more highly skilled battle than Mayweather v Pacquiao at this stage.

Yeah, if you say Gonzalez best case scenario they might think Jhonny.

If you say "Chocolatito", they'll assume you mean Quillin. :-(

:deal Amen to that brother! Still, kinda miss the time when Finito Lopez was a common undercard fighter in many major fights in the 90's and his fights were a helluva appetizer before the main course. Tbh many times I would eagerly wait for his fights moreso than the main event itself. At this point Chocolatito rightly deserves the same worldwide exposure Finito got. My 2 pesos.:good

Mayweather wouldn't allow himself to be upstaged like that.

Good point after the war of Estrada v Gonzalez, Mayweather v Pacquiao would be a pedestrian affair.

They could put that fight on the undercard and make it a classic card for two million dollars total. That's what the fighters have stated they want for a rematch. That's what they'd give to just one fighter on the undercard if it's Broner or Khan facing some bum.

I say make the undercard Gonzalez vs Estrada II and Lomachenko vs Donaire. It's the logical next fight for Loma since it's a step up from Russell, Donaire is on the slide, and they are both promoted by Top Rank. Loma is going to need a big name to build a career on and the only one near his weight to do that with is Donaire.
