Quite a weekend for heavyweight sideshow acts in combat sports.

Yesterday we had Travis Fulton vs. Richard Carmack (on the unaired portion of a mostly-televised Roy Jones Promotions undercard) and Kimbo Slice vs. Dada 5000 on Bellator 149.

Tonight we have this and Tyrone vs. Brody on Celebrity Boxing on GFL internet PPV...and of course Mollo vs. Zimnoch earlier this afternoon.

 

Lucas German Priori vs. Luis Alejandro Moreno, 6 rounds @ middleweight

 

Priori is wearing the green, btw, and more heavily tatted.

 

Round 1

Priori is working the jab into Moreno's sternum and looping a right hand into his left ear. Moreno is falling in, curling his arms over his face, nestling his chin down into the crook of his bent elbows, and swatting inside with short hooks and hopping punches. More jabs by Priori moving left, keeping Moreno at mid-range where he can bang him with the looping right up top.

Round 2

They exchange jabs, Priori firing up from a partial crouch and Moreno sticking his straight out from throat height while standing up taller. Priori is rolling in overhand rights charging in and then sloughing off before Moreno can start to hack at him with downward swipes or work hooks inside.

The unofficial TyC Sports commentators have given Priori a slight edge on their scorecard in both rounds, scoring each 10-9.5, and now having it 20-19 Priori.

 

Priori is clearly the quicker, smarter, busier and more overall talented fighter - but chins might be the equalizer here. Priori has been stopped thrice, and two were at the hands of domestic prospects who are halfway decent but there is a damning one to a 9-22 Croatian. :think

Moreno on the other hand only has two stoppage losses in nearly twice as many bouts (34).

Round 4

Break. Some kind of foul. Time in. Priori is dribbling his jab off the bridge of Moreno's nose and slamming in a high right hand. Moreno hurt. Clinch. Priori is tossing up a teardrop right hand, tilting left as he comes in with it so Moreno has nothing in the center lane to counter. Moreno is lining Priori up for the jab as they circle but missing badly, his rhythm off. Priori is slashing with step-in hook-feints off the hip, then pulling them halfway in and resetting on the outside.

There were two matches completed before Tyc Sports went on-air.

Maria Rivera stopped Alejandra Ríos in six for the FAB (Argentine) female super flyweight title, and Leonardo Alvez De Moura lost his pro debut via KO3 against Nicolas Rebequi.

After this one in progress there is one more 6-rounder before we reach the co-main events.

 

Round 5

Priori is walking in and water-wheeling in the right hand. Moreno seems to have scouted his one-dimensional game plan and has started to use his legs more, springing traps and throwing straight flurries to halt Priori. Nice left hook by Moreno. Priori chases with a combination lunging up for Moreno's head and Moreno lifts his arms while craning his neck to ride the shots while backing up.

Round 6

Priori is walking past Moreno's jab and cracking him in the face with the right hand. Priori follows with a left hook - just a diversion as he is setting up another climbing right. Priori using the left solely for window dressing, every jab and hook just a bit of misdirection to help clear the runway for the money punch right, which seems to be affecting Moreno a bit now. Priori has Moreno running and tying up. Priori is walking him down with a minute left. Solid left hook actually lands for Priori, winging it from a low resting position by his butt. Moreno is throwing arm punches, very tired, slapping with a hook against Priori's back while falling into a clinch. Lazy jab by Moreno and Priori marches straight into him. Moreno slumps over him and entangles his arms. The ref has to split them several times. Big hook by Priori. Wild attack by Priori, missing as Moreno backs up.
