Agree, in fact I thought the 2nd fight was easier to score than the first. Canelo had a little golden spot in the middle of the fight but was getting outboxed for most of the fight.
Not to get into any argument as to who won, but boxing is judged by rounds, not overall punches landed.
Not a always the case. Boxing is judged by effective aggression, clean punches, defense and ring generalship. Someone landing 30 punches more overall is not indicative as to how the fight went. Take Ward-Kovalev I. Compubox had 6 rounds in which one fighter landed just one more punch than the other. You can't base your judgement off of that. https://www.*******.com/andre-ward-vs-sergey-kovalev-compubox-punch-stats--110941 A lot of people think Kovalev won that night. Did he "win" because he landed 10 more punches, or did he win because he scored more rounds? Or was the KD his saving grace? (And don't you love how a KD is just a power punch to compubox. Yet in boxing it's an enormous point when it comes to judging. A KD can be a 3 point swing) I ****ing despise compubox. It´s as inaccurate as it could be and not a means to judge a fight. I remember Lampley choking when compubox had some round even. ****er didn't know what to make of it. This is what happens when you cite punch stats every ****ing round, and try and work your commentary off of those numbers.
Fantastic article. One month on and still 40-0. I think people have a massive double standard against GGG. We expect GGG to win by a thunderous knockout or utter domination from start to finish. But when he shows his technical side and boxes wisely and edges on points, suddenly many start proclaiming that he lost, simply because we had expected him to win convincingly. It’s almost like he can’t win on points because of our expectations of him - especially against a fighter like Canelo who brings in money. There’s very few fighters who had to deal with this sort of double standard. Lastly, I would like to say that I am utterly heartbroken for GGG. From getting clearly robbed in the first fight to Canelo testing positive for PEDs to him walking to the ring first even as the champion, the man had been treated unfairly even before the fight had even begun. Yet, he fought a hard fought fight and climbed himself to victory only to get robbed of his well deserved victory once again at the pinnacle of his career. My heart goes out to GGG. It really does. Nevertheless, I still think he is the true champion. 40-0.
Massive, MASSIVE Canelo fan here but he lost both fights against GGG and he needed ‘tainted meat’ to even be competitive. As much as it pains me to say. GGG > Clenelo for life.
Roflmao Vegas is as crooked as a corkscrew. What beat me is fans STILL but the PPV;s they know are crooked If the fans stop being cheated they wouldn't get awa with it
