A boxer puncher is just a boxer who doesn’t use lateral movement ( as opposed to a pure boxer who does ) . Ex :James Toney ...Mike McCallum...Marlon Starling ..Carlos Ortiz
Not always the case. Leonard, Hearns & Robinson were boxer-punchers, but had very good footwork & lateral movement.
Lennox Lewis can punch just as hard as Bonecrusher Smith....but if I asked you to describe their respective styles ,you call Smith a puncher and Lennox a boxer ( who can punch ) ...and you wouldn’t put Witherspoon and Norton in the same category as either
Lewis vs Tucker, Tucker vs Douglas, Ali vs Ellis, Holyfield vs Holmes, Fury vs Klitschko, Hopkins vs De La Hoya, Mayweather vs De La Hoya, Mayweather vs Judah, Tszyu vs Judah
Still haven't seen a fight that compares to Benitez vs Leonard as far as skills shown . Both fighters were in their primes and demonstrated a masters class of ability.
The Charles-Walcott series. Harold Johnson vs. Charles and Machen as well. Not too many good boxer-boxer matchups though.
