Berto-Quintana and Caballero-Yordan Quintana is a good opponent for Berto at this stage, good top 10 fighter who will give him plenty to think about. Anyone liking Quintana for the upset? He hasn't had a meaningful fight since getting stopped by Williams in the rematch and Boxrec says he was dropped in his last outing before winning on a cut. Could have been a slip or flash KD though (can't find anything on Youtube). He still remains the only man to have beaten Paul Williams which shows how good he can be. Berto had to pull out of the biggest fight of his career against Mosely due to the losses his family suffered in the Haiti earthquake. Must have been tough for him. He'll need to be fully focussed for this fight otherwise Quintana will make it very difficult. The co-feature is an interesting contest. It was originally meant to be Cloud-Johnson which was also a solid fight but unfortunately fell apart. Luckily the promoters got an equally good fight in Caballero-Yordan to replace it. Caballero is somehow in the Ring's p4p top 10 nut). Whilst, IMO. he doesn't deserve that ranking, he is still a good fighter. The move up to feather for this fight will help him cos he was REALLY lanky for a SBW. He can't afford no slip ups here as a win against Yordan will earn him a shot at Gamboa in the summer. If he loses he will most likely become a member of the "Who needs him" club. Yordan's reputation is solely based on how well he did in 2 rounds against Robert Guerrero. If that is anything to go by then Caballero is in for a tough night. However, we don't know how Yordan holds up for the full 12 rounds. Does he have stamina issues? Can he keep his tidy boxing together for the full 12 rounds? What's his chin like? Caballero will be sure to test it. Thoughts? :bbb
Berto Vs Quintana could be a good fight. I'm not sold on Berto, he is a good fighter but seems to think he has made it already. Quintana is a good test but still not as big of a test as Collazo imo. I think Berto if he works the body could have Quintana out of there late but he has adopted a safety first sort of style now. I need to dig some footage of Yordan. Caballero is a good fighter how the ring can have him in the top 10 all he has done in the last few years is destroy molitor. Just seen on the same night the guy Ajose was supposed to be fighting is on in Romania. What happened there i remember thunder or cubex what ever he was then saying about how bad the promotional thing was for that fight yet this one is coming off alright.
I have no idea what happened to Olusegun's eliminator. Cubex (who was formerly known as thunder) is another good poster that doesn't post much now. I wouldn't mind seeing some more footage of Yordan as well. This is the only stuff I've found on Youtube: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XRmo2HQL8g[/ame]
looking foward to the berto fight. also not sold on him yet but a decent test. aint seen to much of either caberello or yordan but i was under the impression caberello was a very avoided fighter or was that just Juanma
Well it seems that Arum didn't want to risk JuanMa against Caballero but is willing to put Gamboa in against him :think
I'm not too sure to be honest mate. Caballero really wanted JuanMa, even went as far as posting a video on Youtube (check it out if you haven't seen it ) calling Lopez out. Lopez came back with the typical "talk to my promoter, I will fight you but you need to negotiate with my promoter". **** knows what happened next, it all went a bit quiet.
You see the promoters try this a lot and one of the fighters gets beaten before the big "cash in". I'm not sure on Berto yet but he'll get past Quintana IMHO.
I watched Berto's greatest hits on hbo podcast earlier today. Very useful fighter with an excellent right uppercut but not sure he's advanced far as di Bella would have wanted. Amazed at how many of Berto's fights I've seen televised live. Agree that the double header looks pretty good too so props to Sky for gettting.
That's a decent shout though I think you are in the minority. I think Gamboa just has too much speed and awkwardness for Lopez. I'm a big Lopez fan but the Mtagwa fight was worrying.
Cheers Ishy was going through the Aussie thread hoping for tips but nothing came up. I'm looking for a job so i think i'll be able to find time in my busy schedule of nothing to watch this
