Fortunately, we have an athlete just like that now.

Georges St. Pierre is an incredibly naturally gifted athlete. Not only that, he's possibly the hardest working athlete in the world. His work ethic is unparallel.

To illustrate just how naturally gifted he is...he has no backround in wrestling. None at all! Nothing in High School or College. He started learning wrestling as a martial art as he was competing as a Mixed Martial Artist. Within 2-3 years, he has been asked to compete in the Olympics for Canada in wrestling.

To appreciate the difficulty of that, that would be like myself, (assuming I never played baseball) going from never playing a game of baseball and in 2-3 years playing in the MLB and being successful.

His skill level and natural talent is almost unheard of in athletics.

Damn, did this guy get his jaw broken with his mouth open that wide while getting slammed repeatedly on the chin?

Same thing happens everytime. I forget MMA exists, and then some internet fan comes around HYPING, I take another look, see this GARBAGE, and get reminded all over again of how INSULTING the comparisons are... I gotta stop falling for it.

Why the MMA fighters waste time in arm/leg/head locks, why not break arm/leg/neck in the first possible moment?

no i understand the sport has terrific athletes and competitors but i mean it will take a lot for them to achieve the level of popularity of a professional soccer or nba player... especially with what we spoke about with the clashing of styles

No, I do not. Physiologically speaking, I believe I run as most normal adult males run.

And I've, personally, done a multitude of sports: Hockey, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross-Country, and Football. As well as competiting in Martial Arts for years.

And I guess I can't even try to convince or try and talk to you about it as you seem sold on MMA not being a sport or anything of the like.

But I will say, in an attempt to answer your question, that what you're looking at is not pure boxing where the technique is a clear cut as it can be. It's situational and very sophisticated. Based on the situation he was in and the mixture of styles, he's exceptionally fast and skilled in striking. It's just not entirely boxing. It may look "messy" in your eyes, but I'll assure you it's very sharp.

Well, assuming you're talking about the top tier fighters, it's not that easy, quite frankly. There are methods of defending and your body has to be in certain positions to properly execute a submission hold (beit a choke or a joint lock).

If a fighter can submit his opponent quickly, I'm pretty sure he would.

i think the aminosity stems mostly from old guard type who grew up with boxing as a major sport and new school whos had options . With two sports trying to occupy the same spotlight. It dosent help that people in both sports that continue fuel this fued. especially characters like dana white who probably dumped the most fuel on the fire. aswell as the financial diffrence in what a boxer makes with all these diffrent stables and promoters compared to the UFC who pretty much have a monopoly so dont pay nearly well enough. when u compare a underdog figthing a headliner and making 1 mil a fight were a ufc star will probbly fight 4 times a year and make less the 60k not including endosements(were most of the money is at), The lack of superstars longevity also plays a role were a superstar MMA fighters career can last 1-3 years you have boxers lasting 10+ years. Entertainment value also differs from person to person. for instance i wouldnt pay to watch spyders sylivias last 3 fights, thoughs bored the shiet out of me its like watching pbf vs bold/oscar fights.

Also the lack of understanding of both sports. for instance you mentioned boxing as a singular skill set and you just have to be the better boxer. is actually incorrect. Boxing over time has evolved with in its criteria just like diffrent sets of jiu jitsu has formed with in is defining skill sets. i wouldnt call brazilian jiu jitsu the same as japanese or the U.S. Mac versions. just the same as jiu jitsu has many, so does boxing. Many fighters usually train in multiple types of tool box ettiquitte. switching it up mid rounds depending on the situations. boxer/puncher swithcing to counter, slick turing into a brawler or some one going southpaw all of a sudden. its usually the fighters that can mix and match during the situations that make the best fighters. each style in a away is like its own type, which has corresponding styles that go against it

As I stated very clearly in my initial post, my aim is to answer any questions that some more pure boxing fans may have had to try and clear up any misconceptions about the sport of MMA. I've done the same with MMA fans about boxing (though I'm relatively limited in boxing knowledge), and Jiu Jitsu fighting.

    I'm hyping nothing.

If you have a reasonable question, I'll answer it.

I actually don't mind MMA, but UFC is a whole different story, it has brought a very obnoxious group of people to the sport.

The arenas are always packed with corny ass frat boys, meat heads and Limp Bizkit fans, the commentating is done by douche bag tools like Joe Rogan, it is also making it look more unlike a sport by having those stupid sluts dancing around in booty shorts on top some stage outside of the octagon. It's the fans that I have a problem with, not the sport.....Don't get me wrong their are plenty of mature MMA fans like your self who can have a respectable conversation, but the types of fans I listed above are just plain aggravating.

As I said, James, this all seemed alot more interesting until I actually looked at some of it. The quality of athletes in your sport is absolutely PATHETIC, bud. Every other guy moves like Ponce De Leon or Sam Soliman. I'm into the aesthetics and beauty of fighting. TRUE PRECISION. That's what makes me a Bruce Lee fan, and a BOXING FAN above all. I can't get what I need anywhere else. ESPECIALLY not in MMA, though Fedor is a fighter I greatly appreciate - but that is where it ends, and that is where it should end for any true alpha who enjoys watching combat. Period.

Well that's Canada. Those guys would be hard pressed to make the Special Olympic squad in non-pussified countries.

you cant front on ufc/mma though.... the best thing is their system is mad organized.... its not a free market place where every man is for himself and theres a bunch of bull**** politics involved...

mma just has one regimented system and whats supposed to happen happens... i dont really watch it like that but i know the system is a good look
