Carlos Baldomir 44-11.. Glen Johnson 47-11..Pipino Cuevas 35-15.. Emmanuel Augustus36-29... Wat QUALITY fighters past an present had recors that could mislead you into thinking they were not very much at first glance, but were actually better then there records show?
I think Johnson being beaten that many times in his earlier days is a testament to how much he's improved over the last several years. I really like Glen Johnson. Good fighter.
Pacman with his early losses. Mijares with his Donaire 19-1 but he is much better than his record suggests
Sam soliman isn't that great i know. but he has something like 12 losses i think. He's still a tough fight for Top 10 Middleweights.
flash elorde's record was 88-27-2 cristian mijares had some early losses before becoming one of the best boxers in mexico juan manuel marquez lost his first fight by DQ bernard hopkin also lost his first fight emmanuel augustus had several losses but he's a tough fight for everyone
Johnson started out 32-0. He then got the **** kicked out of him against Hopkins, and was stopped. After that, he lost a series of controversial decisions in other fighter's hometowns. I think it was more about Johnson getting an opportunity against a big named fighter who was damaged goods rather than him improving.
back in the days, great fighters incur a lot of losses because they don't pick their fights and they don't back off from any challenge. Guys like greb, cotton fitz, archie moore, flash elorde, etc. went on to fight opponents that were probably way heavier, stronger and more skilled than them just to test their limits, in the hopes of achieving unparalleled greatness.. in those days, it wasn't really all about the money... sadly, nowadays, it's not the same...:-(
well if it is 'good' fighters with losses glen johnson, emmanuel augustus and yory boy campas comes to mind
