If you took 5 minutes out of your life, (less time then it took you to post this)
you could go to Boxrec.com and see that Pavlik has 3 inch height advantage and 1 inch reach deficit. This isn't Klitschko vs Chambers. These guys are about the same size. In their last fights respectively Pavlik was 160 and Martinez 159. That isn't a big difference. You and others think this is some giant fighting a midget. You are flat wrong.

    They're wrong.

The basic idea is that Martinez struggles against pressure, which is true, guys who move like him always will, but Martinez did improve in those 10 years and it's wrong to disagree. The fact Pavlik said it is just hype. He wants people to think Martinez is very beatable and he knows how to exploit his weaknesses, just like Martinez has said the same. I'm sure Pavlik knows that Martinez improved in that decade though, just as most educated fans can see.

And again, Margarito and Williams apply very different pressure. Stylistically, I think most those two, especially Williams, the the edge. However, Martinez has the edge on Pavlik. Needless to say, Pavlik has the advantage on Williams and Margarito

Martinez does have a style to give Kelly fits but Kelly will be just too big and strong for him. It's only a matter of time before Kelly gets to him and when he does it will over. Pavlik mid to late round KO.

Of course, and Celestino Caballero is taller than Cotto, so that makes him a legit welter, doesn't it? In fact, the size and weight deficit he's having, as you know, is because Pavlik is fighting at middleweight and light heavyweight these days, while Martinez is a former welterweight moving up to light middle and middle lately. 5 more minutes and you can check how many times Pavlik fought at MW and north of MW, and how many times Sergio Martinez did the same.

But if you want to know whether Martinez has dwarfism, you should ask the expert.

Over all reach is not nearly as important as arm length. I have not been able to find a tale of the tape that notes Sergio's arm length, but I can almost gaurantee to you, by looking at the two fighters, that Martinez does not have an arm length advantage. If he is giving up both height and arm length, he is at a significant disadvantage.

Where weight is concerned, you can expect Martinez to come in around 166 at fight time. Pavlik will come in around 170.

Sergio's highest weight on the scales was 159. Kelly's highest weight on the scales was 169. At this level of professional boxing it all adds up to an enormous size difference.

And Paul Williams is how tall? Strange how he is taller than Pavlik at the press conference and is still listed as shorter on boxrec? Yep, boxrec is the answer....

I don't think so, in this case, Team Williams is the answer. They also made HBO show numbers that doesn't match reality, I guess it goes back to Williams' matchmaking difficulties, who would like to fight a ****ing skyscraper at welterweight?

Can Kelly stop saying he went up 2 weight classes. He fought a career middleweight who was 43 years old at a catch weight of 170. BTW can anyone tell me who was the last fighter B-Hop knocked out???lol

Let Kelly fight Chad Dawson at 175 then he will feel the difference between and old man who was a career MW and a real Lightheavy weight 175 pounds.

It has been pointed out a few times in posts that people catch arm lengths changing in the 'tale o' the tape'. I'll have to go back and watch Martinez again. He carries his hands low enough in the ring I'll be able to note if they are down by his knees or not.

Has anyone seen Martinez vs Margo? Did Margo simply stalk him and broke him down, and has Martinez improved much since then?

Martinez has good movement and could possibly outbox Pavlik but if Margo broke him down, well he's facing a different monster in Pavlik.

The more Martinez I watch, the more confident I get with Pavlik winning.

Martinez's jab is quick, snappy, and pretty decent, but Pavlik has one of the strongest jabs in boxing. He'll win that battle and get closer and closer as the rounds go by with the straight right hand. Martinez doesn't put his hands up and he thinks he's slicker than he really is; he's no Mayweather or anything. The straight punches from Pavlik will eventually get to him, not to mention Pav's consistent body attack which will wear Martinez down.

I'm very confident that Kelly stops him.

So the author of the article I posted a link to titled his article; "Is Martinez a bad style for Pavlik?"

Based on that interview, and several others, I think KP's answer to that question is, "Yes, but I'm gonna whoop his ass anyway!"

My only real worry in this fight is that KP has said some things that lead me to believe there is a chance he could spend to much time trying to prove how good of a "boxer" he is, and not enough time doing what he does best: beat his ass and knock him out.
