Watching lemieux unable to avoid the jab against golovkin motivate this question. Good jabbers with quick hand speed like mayweather and Ali is the first group. Good jabbers with slow to medium hand speed like foreman and golovkin is the second group. Why does the speed of the jab make little difference when trying to avoid the punch between the two groups?

You get taught by your trainer to mask the jab and not show that your throwing it, its decieving

The jab is also a fast punch to begin with, there is no load up on it either. It is the closest hand to the opponent typically... Also opponents against power punches aren't that concerned about the jabs and are probably using more of their perception to look for the Right/hand left hook... If you know a guy can really bang you shouldn't be worrying much about parrying his jab... Look what happened to Broner against Maidana. He tried to parry a jab and ended up getting hit with a left hook. Focusing too much on someones jab can make you get hit with other punches.

(Also just to clarify Maidana can't really bang THAT hard, Broner just has an abysmal glass chin.)
