It's hard to KO a guy that dosn't fight back and also leans way back. KJ did the Rope-A-Dope on Sat. night. He Rope the fans into watching him..and we became the dope.

The problem with a guy fighting a survivor fight is their marketability afterwards. Johnson is pretty much in the same strata as Ibragamov was and still is after the Wlad fight. Pretty much off the radar screen. Even a bigger drop than Thompson has suffered. Just what promoter is going to dig into their pockets for Johnson's services? He'll be fortunate to be in the $50-150 grand range if he continues winning. Another loss and that figure goes down even more.

 

Johnson's mouth did not win him the fight, that's for sure.

 

I sure don't cut any slack on the Johnson corner either. His management and trainer work on a %. And now they have a percentage of not much & will have to deal with a bigger ego. Good luck with that. But those guys are aware of the stakes involved in a title fight and did nothing to alter the course of events between rounds. So, to me anyway, that Johnson management effort was not 1 iota better than the fight Johnson fought.

 

Styles make fights. I tend to agree with you on this point though.
Haye would have probably knocked that arrogant ring clown out whereas Johnson was able to make Vitaly look bad at times.


By the way I still dont get it how one of the judges managed to score one round in favour of Johnson.

at least hoffmann made an effort to win his fight with vitali even though he took a beating and a half and it wasn't for a title....safety pin couldnt even do that...all the money in the world doesnt mean **** to the prestige of being called a champion ..thats what every boxer should aspire to be

Johnson was landing the cleaner, more effective punches. He should have won the fight on ring generalship alone. Robbery, IMO.
