It seems like Kovalev does not have a top-level chin. I heard those at ring side noticed he was a bit buzzed by average punches that Hopkins landed. Perhaps this is why he did not press it as much until the final round? This means a power punching light heavy, who can 1 ) Take Kovalevs power, and 2 ) land his own has a decent chance to upset him. Kovalev is technical very good. Just saying he has a weakness and it looks to be just an average chin. Now for the bad news .the guy waiting in the wings ( Betterbiev ) is extremely impressive. Beiterbiev defeated Kovalev twice in the amateurs.. He has an iron chin, just as much power, and is old school like Jack Dempsey and Mike Tyson. If you think Kovalev is a destroyer, Betterbiev is a monster on a different level.
said it already, Beterbiev destroys Kovalev Kovalev is the best light heavyweight in the world and his got a huge amount of new fans after the weekend and plenty of people who will now back him. but the facts remain that Beterbiev is all wrong for him and would brutalize him
Any punch could stop anyone. kovalevs chin seems to be average. but beterbiev aint the fighter, kovalev is. stevenson has got chin problems himself. those 2 are the only threats.
The bad news for those that want to see him lose is that he's really good and the good news is that he's absolutely fearless and will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime.
