I think it was a good Cotto move to squeeze in a few more dollars. The fight overall is better off with the title being at stake.

Now it's a title fight. That's great! Has this report been confirmed by others?

must people use emoticons all the time when making a point?

as long as a Welterweight weighs in at 147 or less at the weigh in.

they can weigh whatever they want come fight night.

it's been said many times, yes Cotto will most likely outweigh Pacquiao come fight night

    so what

weighing more than someone doesn't guarantee a victory.

I just read that Pacquiao said that Cotto's belt won't be at stake.

It was ok for Pac to fight an old man at 147 but **** that, it wasn't Oscar 1999! Pac needs to hold his cards a bit closer to his chest.

Props for Marquez for manning up and actually entering the divisiion of a supreme welterweight fighter. :happy:happy:happy:happy

    That is what makes legends.

If this fight is a catchweight with Cotto's 147 belt on the line than Manny should put his Ring 140 belt on the line as well. Winner take both.

That would settle my frustration with this.

This is the first time Pacquiao is involved in a catchweight fight and if the belt is on the line then officially it's on and at Welterweight.

Leonard fought Hagler for his Middleweight belts at a catchweight too, I don't see any excuses for that.

This isn't UFC or WWE. These guys are fighting above 140 so putting the ring 140 title on the line makes no sense.

Well I kinda hate to be the one to tell that guy that calls himself the Pres of the WBO...Cotto isnt due a mandatory, and as such they cant make him put the title on the line until he is...Now they can try and force the issue but it will end like the WBC that was almost bankrupted in the stripping of Jones, giving the belt to Rocco and then taking it back and giving it to Jones. The WBO is going down a wrong path here that if Cotto pressed the issue could end very badly for them.

PS the fact that the WBO inserted Pac as the number one contender is bull ****, I know that they want to get there greedy little hands on the percentages of Pacs paydays, but they should at least make it seem like they arent being biased here.

Of course not, from a ******* perspective.
But staying clear away from a weight division one has already proved competitive in (that is, against an old man) makes no sense either.

politics. I think every organization would put pac as their mandatory #1. Easy money to keep their useless organizations alive.
