I absolutely agree. I just wish everyone thought like this.

JMM is on the down-side of his career. Why fight someone with with SUPERIOR skill knowing it will end up the same way the Floyd fight did.

I am just sick of everyone saying that JMM vs Hatton is a Must Happen fight. Or it a Guranteed "Big Money" fight...PLEASE. Please...this fight shouldn't even be Broadcasted on HBO. At best...this is a "WEDNESDAY" NIGHT ESPN2 FIGHT.

And for the Record...Floyd would have SHUT-OUT JMM at 122, 126, 130, 135, 140...even 200lbs. Your using the Term "Skilfull Technician" rather loosely????

I see it as hatton is a common opponet for JMM in route to PAC JMM III

Marquez vs Cotto would be Awesome, I mean to be Honest what else does cotto do? He fought everybody but Floyd

Please. Timothy Bradley does not possess more skill than Juan Manuel Marquez, neither does Devon Alexander. Take away their speed, which is a God given talent (not skill), and you have two rather ordinary fighters. Suggesting Bradley or Alexander would dispose of Marquez in a Mayweather-like fashion is insane, considering they weren't able to do that against much lesser fights that JMM.

If you believe that you have very little understanding of the sport.

Floyd likely beats Marquez at any weight. Though Floyd is also an anomaly, a very special fighter. Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley are nowhere near that level.

I find it hilarious how you accuse me of using a term loosely that you apparently have very little understanding of. Juan Marquez is a master boxer/puncher with elite level counter punching ability and a high ring IQ. He defines the term skillful technician. Though I guess that may be hard for you to see due to him campaigning well above his best fighting weight at an advanced age, and not to mention the complexion of his skin.

Look I am well aware that That the Majority of Black American fighters that learn the sport are often taught Defense first, jabs, combinations, excellent hand and footwork. I am also aware that they DO NOT hold the Monopoly of Skilled Fighting.

I am also well aware that there are tons of Hispanic fighters that are just as slick in the ring...And even more aware of the tons of Black American fighters that are Brawlers.

So if ALL you have is the..."LOOK, THE BLACK GUY IS BEING RACIST" angle...Then you need to find another angle. you seem like a pretty knowledgeable fight fan...MUST YOU GO THERE????

    Oh well.

I like this fight alot, and I'll be even happier if I don't have to pay for it. That said I hope this is the end of the road for both these guys, they've done fans proud and can make some big money on the way out. marques is not the same as 126 or 130 and we know Hatton ain't making that. At 140 i got hatton by possible mid to late round stoppage.

Ricky Hatton kicked Paulie Malignaggay's ass.

Paulie Malignaggay kicked Juan Diaz's ass.

35-year-old JMM went life and death with Juan Diaz.

Ergo, Ricky Hatton will kick nearly 37-year-old JMM's ass.

What a stupid way to predict a fight. Styles make fights and Hatton is made for JMM and Marquez will pick him off with ease and stop him.

    Good styles clash...
Hatton's strength on the inside will be the ticket for him.
JMM has slowed down enough to be exploited in that area.
(But Ricky will have to be able to take JMM's shot's, Can he?)

I predict ugly fight based on I still think JMM is too small for a full blown 140lbs.
That said, Marquez defo has the skills to overcome that...

    make it happen.

Based on the trouble JMM had with JD at 135, id pick a 140lb Hatton to beat JMM.

But Hatton will be close to death at 140 whereas JMM can come in at about 137 and be really strong.

Hatton hasn`t knocked out or bullied anyone on the inside whos capable of hurting him for years.

Hatton will get a terrible beating from JMM and may even put his life at risk fighting at 140.

I`d rather Hatton retired than risk his future health.

based on a knockout to Pac, a guy who seems to be punching harder then most middleweights and seems faster then he ever was at lightweight? thats a bit harsh to say he is finished based on that.
