Hey, Im 5'9 135lbs and I want a punchbag. My punches are pretty weak so i was wondering what weight bag should I get and what is a good brand? Also, should I get one that hangs from the ceiling? Should I hit this bag with my bare hands, hand wraps or full gloves?
im not sure about size, but u should definatly get the one that hangs form the ceiling, its a lot better to move wround, since it will move too... and wrap ur hands and wear gloves when hitting it...
i would get anywhere from 75-100 lbs. bag. for the gloves, i have heard ppl on here complaining about the bag gloves, so i guess just get some boxing gloves. personally i have I BELIEVE a 75 lbs. bag everlast, leather, and a pair of 10 oz. boxing gloves that i use. or i use mma gloves. that's me, i'm no pro or nething like that, but it seems to work for me. at first ur punches will probably not be too powerful, but that's what the heavy bag is for. it's not supposed to be swinging all over the place all the time, it's for power. for ur wrists, i would suggest wrapping them, even if the gloves have a strap for support. i have been into boxing for years n hadn't hit the heavy bag in the while. talking years while. one day i went at it for about an hour, and a few of my punches didn't land right n would mess up my wrist because i didn't have em wrapped, and then my shoulder and tricep were hurting for about 4 days after lol. just to warn u
I bought the bag and gloves at Dunhams. This was years ago, probably around...8 years or so? Dicks has them too. Really any sport store has them. Shop around to find the best deal. Good luck and have fun.
for gloves i like the everlast training gloves, they are good all around gloves, i can use them on any bags and in sparring if i want... first pair was 12 ounce, now i have 16 ounces... never had a problem. and in training, for some reason i think its smart to use big gloves.
