Does anyone know if there's any literature that addresses the prevalence of corruption, fight fixing, and other shenanigans in various eras in boxing history? Are there any good tools or proxies for measuring the extent of corruption in any particular period, or even across eras? I know that Levitt and Dubner did a mathematical analysis of the likely prevalence of fight fixing in sumo wrestling ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Match-fixing_in_professional_sumo ). has anything like this been tried with boxing?
Charles Farrell, ex business partner with the Petronelli brother's & boxing manager of Floyd Patterson, Mitch Green and others (at least he claims) has done fascinating interviews on fight fixing that you can find on YouTube. He gives examples of fights he knows were fixed including...*whispers*.... Ali Liston 1 & 2.
