A contemporary example would be Jean Mark Mormeck.

...........Danny Lopez, after being beaten the second time by Sanchez (pictured below).....

........He gave Sanchez his prized Indian headdress he always wore into the ring, sort of a passing of the torch gesture. A true gentleman.

Valuev was very humble in defeat.

In the end, i don't think too much weight should be added to those comments though. This is fierce competition. Boxing is their life. Of course they're gonna score "biased" to theirselves. It's that competitive spirit that drives them to great performances. I think almost any fighter has had his less than gracious moments.

Mosley is mentioned, but in some fights in 2002 he was just as disrespectful as respectful as he is these days..

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Floyd Patterson. He was always, in victory or defeat, a gentleman.

I always thought Hagler was a gent (aside from the loss to SRL)

Didn't they call him 'The Boxing Gentleman'? (I know he didn't officially have a nickname.)

Perhaps Tyson was trying to appeal to the person he lost to? Maybe he lost to them to get an added perk, or two? Or, perhaps, they hadn't tested him before hand for whatever he may have been using on that particualr day?

    What a guy! :D

Well, if Hagler was always a Gent prior to SRL.... then maybe, just maybe, there was something he wanted to correct regarding that fight?

I'll agree Hagler was way out of character afterwards, so something must have happened that he didn't like!
