Watched the fight again after the second Froch assault ,Groves was on wooden legs and stumbling around A clue you will see when a fighter is badly hurt and will finds it very difficult to recover/regroup especially in later rounds is that there back/torso loses the foundation support and becomes limp. this is what happened to groves watch 1.38 the little judder and dip in the knees also the left foot of groves "Stamp on the floor involuntarily "that's a telling sign and if the fight would have gone a while longer I am confident to say that Froch stops groves on his feet similiar to the Bute fight. If theres a rematch and Groves fight the way he did from rounds 1-7 through till round 12 then imho he wins a wide UD. Groves and Froch knows that the task isnt easy:hi:
Not really. Froch was wobbling all around the ring throughout the fight, eating right hands. Never seen him like that before, yet because he's got the warrior image, the ref will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Bad, bad stoppage. He was hurt but it's boxing. By your same logic Froch should have been stopped in round 1. He was actually floored and on jelly legs.
It was a bad stoppage, there can be no question. No ref should step in when the fighter is still defending himself.
Go with your gut reaction. Mine - For ****s sake another terrible stoppage. Nothing has changed in my mind.
George still had his hands up so it was to early. He had Froch wobbling all night but the ref didnt step in. To fair though you can forget about it now. George has announced his pressence at World level. He gained so much from that performance and should be looking at making a nice few quid out of boxing. Well done George. I'm more interested in the scoring of the ringside judges. Shockingly poor as usual.
Bad stoppage. Yeah Groves was hurt, and I think Froch woulda stopped him before long, but you don't just pull the fighter who's ahead in a title fight first time he gets wobbled. Groves should absolutely have been given the chance to rally. Oh, and for all that I like Froch as a fighter, he showed zero class in the post fight interview.
I got to give credit where its due, Groves really surprised me! Fast, technical and strong punch. He was hurt but it was a early stoppage. Imo Froch would have stopped him later but Groves should have been given a chance continue. Froch looked puzzled through the fight, the guy has one hell of a chin and is mentally one of the strongest fighters out there. He has given Groves a chance at him and Froch didnt win anything from this fight. It was a lose-lose situation for him anyway but prps to him.
Terrible stoppage, Groves was right about Frochs power as well, overrated. Not a chance Froch would've got him out of there, he more than had his chance. Feel sorry for George Groves.
The ref could have stopped Castillo Coralles. Coralles was getting pummeled and all of a sudden 1 punch turned the tides and it was Castillo in trouble. Its not like Groves was uncountious on the ropes or getting pummeled the whole round. I felt Froch had more in the tank and could possibly score a stoppage but to stop it then was unprofessional.
Disagree - Groves did look in serious trouble for the last 30 seconds of the fight, but the stoppage was still bad because he wasn't completely out and it was not beyond the realm of possibility that he could recover. I think he might well have been stopped if the fight had gone on 30 more seconds, but we'll never know for sure.
Froch was throwing arm punches and actually running with his punches. His power is overated mate. Groves was buzzed yeah big deal? Froch fanboy clearly Dont be mad because your boy got clowned last night
Poor stopage, and shocking judges scoring. Howard Foster looked a concerned man in the ring after the fight, think he realised he may have been a bit hasty. Should be interviewed after the fight to give his reasoning for the stopage, and the manner in which he stopped the fight.
