They tried to make the fight with that version of B-Hop & RJJ in 02 when Roy was p4p no1 & Hops was p4p no2, Hopkins wouldnt accept a 60/40 split which was fair at that time & priced himself out of the fight by asking for 50/50 when Roy was the much bigger name & best p4p. Hopkins knew Roy would hand him his ass again.

Again? Do you class the first fight as getting his 'ass handed' to him?!

Barrera vs Naz gets discredited at times.

People actually believe Hamed never trained properly which is not true, he got in his best shape... his problem was that he fell in love with his power & lost a lot of his reflexes by 2001.
The Naseem that beat Robinson would have gave Barrera a much tougher night IMHO but to say he was past it or never trained properly is ridiculous.

Not in a beatdown sense but in the sense that he beat him decisively without controversy - apparently with only 1 good hand too.

Come on Bill, it's not a big deal or anything but you know it's not justifiable to use the phrase you did to describe what happened in that fight!

True, spur of the moment typing.... but he DID beat him clearly you must admit & IMO would have did so again in 02.

It's not even relevant to bring up the circumstances as to why the rematch never happened either. What do you want me to do, mark Jones down for another win over Bernard because one of them priced themselves out of the fight? Yeah, Jones was a real darling at the negotiating table.

All I know is that they fought once, Jones won, and it was against a relatively green Hopkins, who was clearly inferior to the one of 2001.

People(me included) are probably swayed by the documentary, "Little Prince, Big Fight". They made Barrera appear very serious while Hamed looked like he cared more about his gloves than the actual fight. Don't know what really went on during Hamed's training camp but imo I think Barrera would always beat him at that point when they fought. Not saying that because I'm a Barrera fan either.

Yeah clear win, i was just being a pain in the ass with you there Bill, haha. I always thought it was a very difficult call in 02, not because of Hopkins' improvement though, but because he would have wanted to win badly, that's the only fighter he probably hates, Jones that is. Roy would be my favourite gping into it though yeah.

Tarver's first win over Jones gets discredited. Jones looked fine in the first round, winning it, then got knocked out by a perfect punch in the second. The punch was so awkward that I'm not convinced it had anything to do with Jones reflexes; Jones basically landed a hook that knocked Tarver off balance in a way that let him really step into the knockout punch. I'm confident that Jones was in better condition than for the first fight. After the second Tarver fight, he had pretty clearly lost it, but up until getting knocked out he seemed to have plenty left.

Foreman was without a doubt stronger in 1991 than he was in 1973... it doesn't mean he was a better puncher though. He had some fat on him but he actually added muscle as well. Foreman was lifting a lot in the late 80's and early 90's.

Foreman definately had more snap on his punches when he was younger and was a better finisher. In 1991 Foreman was smarter and paced himself better. I'm not saying he was better in '91... just that it was a good win for Holyfield.

The most talked about fight in ESB history.

    Gets talked about almost everyday.
