Goodridge-Taktarov was a scary moment in Pride too.

I never like Gary. He had the aura of being nothing more than a bully. I was glad when Fedor pounded his head into the mat. That being said he was a VERY formidable force with a hellacious punch and a bad temper.

Actually come to think of it Gilbert caught him with a sweet head kick mere moments into the fight and he just dropped like a sack of spuds!:yep And that was at PRIDE 10 too. This was the PRIDE 10 card:

1 Vitor Belfort Daijiro Matsui Decision 2 10:00 2 Wanderlei Silva Guy Mezger KO (Punches) 1 3:45 3 Ricco Rodriguez Takayuki Okada Submission (Choke) 1 6:04 4 Gilbert Yvel Gary Goodridge KO (Head Kick) 1 0:28 5 Mark Kerr Igor Borisov Submission (Neck Crank) 1 2:06 6 Igor Vovchanchyn Enson Inoue TKO (Strikes) 1 10:00 7 Masaaki Satake Kazunari Murakami TKO (Strikes) 1 6:58 8 Kazuyuki Fujita Ken Shamrock TKO (Corner Stoppage) 1 6:46 9 Ryan Gracie Tokimitsu Ishizawa TKO (Strikes) 1 2:16 10 Kazushi Sakuraba Renzo Gracie

Has there ever been a card THIS STACKED? It was stupidly deep.

Igor Vovchanchyn was a monster back in the early days of Pride. It's sad to hear him retire - but he had a good run. His fights with Mark Kerr were barn burners.

That was a sweat Pride card. I still have a bootleg of the original Japanese pay-per-view. I trained with Renzo just before he went to Japan to fight Sakuraba. It was very sad to see him lose - but he never submitted.

He seemed like a really nice guy. Dam shame about his elbow. Sakuraba had it in tight and wouldnt let go. His elbow got dislocated and bent the other way! He must have been in a tremendous amount of pain but he didnt even flinch!

My son has been waiting till they box them up in sets. I chip in some. Prices aren't too bad for what you get.

Renzo is a great guy. He's very friendly and always makes jokes. The way he lost to Sakuraba is not only physically painful - but it's very ironic as well. When Sakuraba was going for that straight arm lock, Renzo was actually going for the escape - but the ropes were too close. Instead of swinging Sakuraba around and taking his back - Sak bounced off the ropes and straight into that lock. Renzo would not submit - but it makes my stomach hurt to see his arm bent back like that. Renzo is like Rickson and Relson Gracie in spirit. They are tough as steel on the inside. They exhibit the bushido spirit through and through.
