I remember there was a time I used to get good-bumps for about every major fight. There would be several competitive barn burners set up through out the year. Recently there haven't been that many great fights where I'm uncertain of the outcome. For the most part promoters have been matching their champs against chumps with watered down world "titles" and hyping the fight. So part of the goodbumps feeling for me is the anticipation of the fight, and not knowing who is going to win. Like if the fight doesn't have hype, but it ends up being a good fight, it's still a good fight, but without the build up. More like a nice surpise. It also comes down to the fight itself. If the fight has hype, but it becomes obvious right away one guy will win, totally deflates the event. Now if it gets hype and the fight is close, now that is nerve-wracking for me, and I love it. The last time I got goose-bumps for a fight was Cotto vs Margarito. I remember being so uncertain of the fight and who was going to win. And the fight itself was awesome! Cotto was looking on fire, but Margarito kept marching forward, and chopping at the tree. I didn't know if Cotto's punches would eventually snap Margarito's head off, or if Cotto was going to wilt from the pressure. Eventually we got our answer and the scandal, but it was great at the time. I also remember the Trinidad vs Vargas fight. That fight had it all. The countdown to the fight. The multiple knock downs. I would love more competitive match making like this.
KTFO6 Cotto Margarito 1 - yeah that was amazing. Cotto was devastating, but the monster just wouldnt stop coming forward. Say what you will about plaster wraps, Margo was insanely tough
Tarver/Hopkins . I kept sayin to myself , is THIS really the SAME Hopkins that just lost to Taylor TWICE ?? B hop just embarrassed Tarver in that fight .
i get goosebumps all the time for big fights. hell i cranked up the volume before the froch/kessler II fight and got goosebumps just listening to that place rock. how the hell can't you get fired up watching that.
Yes, I still do on occasion, but a lot less so than when I first started following the sport. I remember I used to get nervous before a Tuesday Night Fights main event.
i always have that feeling for fights....partially cos i have money on them though which gives you a rush. Marquez v Pacquaio 4 my stomach was leaping though, and cotto Margarito one is a great call
