"The network shelled out $6.5 million combined for the Paul Williams-Winky Wright middleweight clash and the rematch between light heavyweights Chad Dawson and Antonio Tarver. Williams-Wright was worth broadcasting, but not at that price -- reportedly, Wright had HBO over the barrel for that bout since they'd promised him some dates and kept pushing him back -- and Dawson-Tarver II wasn't worth broadcasting at all, but HBO apparently felt (wrongly) that it was the only way to get Dawson to move from Showtime to HBO. "
I just hope the rivalry between HBO and Showtime heats up. I want to see them competing for events. :deal
Top 10 pond 4 pund and hasn't fought at home? WTF is in Aiken, SC. that he couldn't have fought there 10x over?? Does He even get his family to go to his fights? All the while Pav fans drive in droves!Maybe Bob overdid the PPV with Taylor II I'll give you that. What's the top purse PW ever made? Pavlik got his money from Top Rank and Rubio was willing to come to his opp. home town so I'm sure he got paid! One more time explain to those less intelligent than yourself how P4P isn't an opinion? FACT are you serious???? I hope it happens and better tell Olive Oil eat his spinach!!!
I put that guy on my ignore list long ago. The Southside Boxing Club fight is this weekend? Did jsimps get you to test out the mail list software yet?
50/50 is right! PAV lost to BHOP and he's trying to resurrect with mediocre comp. WILLIAMS/PTP is doing BIG THINGS! He beat Winky (PAVLIK and company ducked Wright) and coming from 154 and 147. I'd give PTP AT LEAST 50%!! Jah Bless those real fighters like PTP. They take risks.
What the hell is going on tonight? Sorry, but FACT, Arum offered Winky a fight. Winky priced himself out. Big surprise there. This **** is getting to be way too much. Pavlik called Winky out multiple times on his way up but Winky wasn't interested. So cut the crap and get it straight or just don't post.
winky was offered 1.4m plus a share of the ppv for a pav fight :nono don't go throwing hate around just b/c you feel 50/50 is fair, which is a perfectly fine opinion.
After all of that Wright said he'll fight Pavlik in Pavlik backyard and Wright said Pavlik should get 60 percent just so the fight can happen but after that Pavlik ignored it.
Wright challenge Pavlik and even agree to let Pavlik get the 60 percent of the purse and willing to fight Pavlik in Pavlik backyard but Pavlik, Arum ignored it. It's funny you ignoring it.
like all other fights that could have happened that didnt...its more complicated than one fighter "ducking" another. i'm not saying winky was "ducking" pav, only that he was made an pretty good offer for the fight...and im def not saying pav was ducking winky simply b/c winky wanted to take it after he turned it down...but people throw around that accusation all the time and its starting to ring a little hollow...
No. Winky was going around all insulted. It was Pav $2.5 and Winky $1.4 as the challenger. Arum pretty much publicly advertised $1.25 to get takers. Boo is claiming the $1.4, but all I ever knew about was the $1.25. So, two to one and a shot at the belt was Arum's public offer. So, that was a 67% 33% split.
some of the articles are mere speculation, i saw 1.25 more than once, 1.4 and some even said 1.6 (i don't buy the 1.6 but you know how some of these reports are). as far as winky wanting the fight after turning it down, i read some stuff about that too
I'm talking about Ray's talk of Winky agreeing to 60/40 and a fight in Ohio. I've never heard of that til recently.
Damn where have you been? Wright agree to it a year ago. It was reported on boxing scene website and it Wright was interview on fighthype website in which he said he's willing to fight Pavlik in Pavlik backyard and willing to let Pavlik get 60 percent of the purse.
