If Williams ever wants to make big money, he needs to take down big names.........and that may mean he has to take lousy purses for awhile. But if he starts destroying people, he will be in the drivers seat eventually!
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF HE'S OVER-RATED. Purses are decided on who brings more money to the fight. Even if Pavlik were an absolute hype-job, he'd still be entitled to the bigger draw if he brings more fans. atsch No, obviously Pavlik doesn't have the base DLH does; the point is that LOSSES ARE IRRELEVANT to how much money you to the table.
I agree with Boo, Goossen shouldn't demand 50/50. Question is HBO's budget for this fight. Can they offer enough for Williams to get $1,3M AND Pavlik get more... that's a budget of $3M minimum. They offered a lot less for the Sturm unification.
Broken record? Let me remind you; Pavlik KO7 Taylor, Pavlik UD12 Taylor, and Arthur's first, and likely only fight in the tourney is . . . . who? Bigger profile? The kind of payday AA wanted meant that he needed to become a bigger draw in the USA before the fight would be financially viable. That's pretty damn simple. And what did AA do after he became a bigger name? Ran the other way, and made a fight with Pavlik's left overs. Martinez is a Dibella and HBO idea, and I'm sure he will work much cheaper than AA would have, and that means the overall revenue does not have to be as big, therefore his drawing power is not as important.
The biggest fight at MW WAS a Kelly vs Arthur fight, and you are trying to explain the monetary value and why it was not sufficient for both fighters. I could a flying **** who was making what, that was the fight to be made, arthur came to the states and made miranda look like an amateur, but I guess according to "BOB" he still needed to BUILD HIS PROFILE
Man, if they considered Mayorga, YES MAYORGA then you don't need more proof these guys publicly ducked Abraham. They say Abraham needs more fights in the US to be popular yet consider Sturm. It's not hard to see what Arum is doing here, really.
OK, we have to live with the fact that AA moved up to SMW. We can stop to waste our breath regarding whether Pavlik ducked Abraham or vice versa. In the end it was the money that killed the fight. The only two fights in MW which make sense are 1. Pavlik - Sturm (by far the most important fight) and 2. Pavlik - Williams One of these two fights better be made. These are the only two fights that count.
Pavlik leftovers?, you're not hinting that he's participating in a tournament packed with Pavlik leftovers? :rofl Wake the **** up already, seriously. The guy moved up in a division literally PACKED with elite/dangerous fighters that have a great chance of beating him. Pavlik is standing in the corners showing how bitter/pathetic he is for not being "invited". You want to tell us all the guys at SMW are less dangerous than Pavlik?
The point is that AA isn't already surpassing Pavlik's achievements. It's not like Pavlik passed up his one chance of a decent victory. AA's first fight isn't harder than AA vs. KP.
I'm glad Paul isn't letting the press and haters goad him into a division he isn't ready for. He is still a 147/154 fighter.
Williams needs to concentrate on the excellent Dzinderuk. However WIlliams recent competition and performances pisses on Pavliks from a great height. These guys are some of the best - Winky Wright, Dzinderuk, Phillips, Margarito from 147-160. Pavlik didnt even have the balls to face Winky Wright so he needs to sign or go back to pumping gas.
i'm not a Pavlik fan but, 50-50 is ridiculous.... i think even 60-40 would be generous to Williams but on the flipside, Kelly is becoming more and more irrelevant these days, especially with Arthur Abraham gone, he needs to fight a Winky and Williams to get his buzz back
I never said his first fight is more difficult, the point here is that he's in a division packed with dangerous opponents so if his first isn't more dangerous then other far more dangerous fights are available in the division. It's Pavlik who lacks anyone good enough or as good as Abraham.
