"I would like to ask when will Margarito stop trying to deceive the fans of the facts? Stop worrying about who Oscar is going to fight and concentrate on Antonio Margarito. In his days of excellence, Oscar did his thing and earned every penny doing so. If I'm not mistaken, Paul Williams unanimously beat Antonio Margarito for his WBO belt last year. After Margarito’s recent victory over Cotto, you would think he would look for some pay back on Williams rather than looking to every other less risky fighter to fight, including Oscar."

"Williams doesn't need to prove his reign now as the "most feared fighter in the world" today since he already did that by beating Margarito. But instead, Williams looks for the biggest fights for himself, the fans and the sport. Williams is doing what the greats of yesteryear always did, look to get rid of anyone that wants to act as if they are the number-one fighter in their division."

Dan Goosen (promoter for Paul Williams), August 2008

So true. Margarito is walking around with a loss to Williams. He has tons of nerve.

Margo has a recent loss to another top welter who is belt holder. That loss needs to be revenged. That being said, I don't think that Margo is ducking Williams necessarily, he may have been looking for a pay day with DLH. I think we'll get a Williams fight next year

The irony is while Goosen thinks Margarito is chasing someone less risky, Williams is doing the same trying to fight someone he already beat.

Williams has plenty of other options. No doubt Williams and Margarito will fight again.

IF DLH called goosen, he'd drop the Margarito offer like a hot cake.

He just wants Margarito because he's ht right now.

I disagree Lance. Yeah, he already beat Margo but many people have Margo ranked ahead of him a WW and the first fight was close. Why wouldn't he want to fight Margo? Remember, Paul was the guy chasing after Margo when Margo claimed no one wanted to fight him. I think it's unfair to claim that Paul wants to fight him for any other reason than to prove he's the best in the division.

Well, apparently Margarito tried to rematch him to no avail after they fought the first time. Where was this fire then? Where was the 4 mill offer then? Where was the rush to make a fight?

Anyway, I didn't say it's not right for him to want Margarito. I said he's trying to face someone he already beat.

Williams told Margo right there in the ring that he would give Margo a rematch. After the fight they sought to unify the belts(something that Williams said he wanted to do). After Cintron dropped out of that fight, they offered Margo a chance at a rematch. However, by that time, Top Rank had begun laying the ground for the Cotto/Margo fight. I'm surprised your taking this stance Lance. Mosley and Cotto both turned down fights with Mayweather. I'm sure you don't thinks it's okay that he passed him over later because of this.

And Margo is now going to fight someone in Nov. that he already beat. Last April, he fought another guy that he not only beat, but destroyed. I fail to see the significance.

He was actually chasing a title and he happen to be the number one contender. I believe Margarito would want to fight Williams, but the 4mil would be nothing compared to what Oscar would have offered him. Yes, Williams wants to prove he is the best by fighting Margarito and Margarito should be ranked above him for beating Cotto. Oscar is toying with all these guys until we find out who the hell he is really going to fight. These guys will fight each other in 09' for the WBO, IBF, and WBA belts. Yes, Clottey will lose to Margarito.

Isnt that what Cotto was doing and with a crowd pleasing style sans Margarito. Williams at 6'1" looking to get the most touches in 12 rds doesnt excite or capture my imagination. Its simple after getting the shaft his whole career Margo needs to make money, let him get 1 or 2 good money fights and then Williams can then get his shot. Why doesnt Will really grow a pair and go where he belongs at 160 and fights AA or Pavlik how about that.

Yes, let Margarito makes some money. His style of fighting will not last long, but he will most likely unify the WW division.
