why blame a guy who's on the rise ... Pavlik isn't going anywhere any time soon and you don't have to be a Pavlik fan to realize that.

He has a limited amount of opposition and its even less than that when talking about top level fighters.

There isn't any top notch middleweights or super middleweights that he can fight so he's torn.

Williams has options and he can go in a different direction and have alot of success along the way.

Williams isnt nothing special, and Honestly the only reason the Floyd fans support him is becuase of the Margarito hate, that is the only reason most of you paid any attention to this guy.
Williams doesnt have many options its obvious he is a 6'3 south paw with a high work rate that can make 147 so in a sense he is suffering what Hagler had to suffer, and a fight with Pavlik should not be turned down becuase they are not getting the purse they want, take the fight beat Pavlik and you will be in command, Even goosen knows this so to me I clearly see them making it hard to come to terms so they get out of the fight, so they can claim victory or claim Kelly ducked him

Goosen also has to be taking a hard look at Paul's post-pavlik career. There are a number of decent to good fighters who got pavlikated, and then never won another significant fight.

lets discuss williams options that are a better payday than what arum is offering:

WW: ssm and pbf aint happening...cotto is tied up w/ pac. you want to tell me a fight w/ berto or clottey would be more profitable for paul? ( i would love to see pwilly and ssm btw)

    JMW: yeah right

MW: already fought winky, so who else is there other than pav here?? sturm??

SMW: people argue he could make the jump here but even if he could...bute is tied up w/ andrade right? and everyone else is in the smw tourney.

so, who could pwilly fight right now and make more money than arum is offering??

mind you im not arum's biggest fan but they both need eachother and neither has an option better than the other right now. just my opinion. no ill will intended brother :good

First off, it's more than $1.55 million. It's $1.55 million plus a percentage of other revenue. It's just not the 50/50 that Goosen ask for. The total package probably comes close to $2 million, but no one has published precise numbers. Goosen wants a $2.5 million guarantee and 50/50 on everything else.

Second, what "other option" does PWilly have that would pay as much?

Third, the current offer is more than twice Paul's best pevious pay day.

Fourth, Pavlik is the champ, and Paul is the challenger.

Fifth, over the past year we've heard non-stop bull**** about how PW is the "most feared and avoided" fighter in the world. Pavlik trashed a list of 4 other fighters HBO would approve, and PICKED PW. Williams needs to either back his mouth up, or publicly admit he is a fraud.

fitzy...love readin your posts brother. but what "other" options does paul have other than the ones i listed a few posts above thats gonna pay pwilly anywhere near as much as what he's being offered now??

edit: limited in terms of big money fights...not limited in terms of only bad fights left out there. both have quality fights they can make but none as profitable as with eachother

yeah pwilly has the ability to fight in numerous weight classes but his options are limited like pav's nonetheless.

Exactly and Williams hasnt been in there with any Top middleweight in their prime, he hasnt even been in with a Top Jr Middleweight in their prime so there is alot of questions regarding the well being of Paul and his future throwing him in there with Pavlik could send him down the same road its sent Zertuche and Miranda and Taylor and I am sure Goosen wants to keep what he has now since his poor mans version of Tyson proved to be a waste of talent.

Exactly I dont see any Options for Paul none of the top welters will fight him and if there is one its Cotto, I doubt there is big money to be made at 154 so to me it looks like perhaps this is all he has a household name at 160 but what a name that it, Pavlik can ****ing punch and he can get up off the deck and win.

At least somebody has it right! Opinions are just that about the outcome, but for Goosen to ask for anything higher than 10% of the gate is absurd! Someone said Paul has a solid following down South yet he fought at 6 flags years ago as his last fight in the south and he fights out west where everyone seems to dress up as empty seats!
Kelly has a gurantee minimum in his contract w/Top Rank so don't worry about him he'll get his. Pwill does have an HBO date but for a fraction of what he makes for a Pavlik fight!! Take the fight PW please!

You should walk your ass to the loony bin if you think Pavlik doesn't have a say in what happens in negotiations! He always knows whats going on and gives his opinion. He lets Bob/Todd/Cameron work out the details! Maybe PW should take hold of the biggest opportunity of his life-Tell me all about his guaranteed HBO date that even most boxing fans don't know who the hell his opp. is!

Ya know what Mikey? If Goosen messes this up, there is a good chance that Top Rank and HBO will both shun PWilly for a long time to come. This is the 2nd time we've been down this road, and I doubt if anyone would start down it again.

Gotta admit that Pav is trying to fight a guy that was campaigning at 147 just last year. Pav needs to stop bullshitting and go fight those guys at 168. These little guys won't do nothing for his legacy.

Williams is too small anyway. If they fought, this would show big time.
