Hopkins fought Taylor twice and lost both times. Pavlik KO7 Taylor, Pavlik UD12 Taylor. Now go make me a list of all the other fighters that scored decision wins over JT.
Goosen was asking for $2.5m of the purse, PLUS a share of everything else. So he's asking for two-thirds of the 3.75 HBO put up, and god-knows-what-else of the remaining money. So no, it's not a reasonable demand.
he only asked for the 2.5 when they offered no money from Sponsership, which could be in the millions. but could also be under a mil. ahh who knows i'm tired of talking bout this.
we've been getting bits and pieces of news all along, but nothing so far today. Do you think that is good or bad?
Not fair boo. Most sensible comment of the day. Especially by him.... Joking. This stuff is going in circles.
I'm not surprised it's gone cold. If I were Uncle Bob, I'd be thinking: "Does this guy want the fight or not? We've made him a reasonable offer, and he comes over the top with this ****!?" I don't know what Top Rank are going to do. The ball's in Goosen's court. If he seriously thinks Williams deserves TWO-THIRDS of the pot plus a share of the rest, he's even more delusional than I thought. The problem is, HBO have tabled a serious offer for Williams - Dzinziruk. Team PW might just take the money and run, and we won't see this fight pop up for another year.
Cool if in another year or so P-dub is still kicking ass at 147/154 then he will be ready to make the jump to 160.
Hopkins got jobbed in the first Taylor fight. Winky got jobbed too, IMHO. Now if Taylor is sooooo good then please explain the Froch fight. And if Pavlik is soooo good then please explain how he lost every round to a 44 year old fighter.
Both fights were close. Taylor was hardly "exposed". However you look at it, your comment was just bollocks. Taylor has never been the same fighter after the Pavlik fights - not because he took a Calzaghe-Lacy style, career-ending beatdown, but he's just lost some of his physical sharpness, motivation and prime weight. Still, he made Froch look like total tomato can for the vast majority of the fight, and was 14 seconds away from beating a guy by throwing fewer than 10 punches for 5 rounds of the fight. Stylstically, Hopkins is a bad match up for Pavlik. There are, obviously, claims about illnesses; and it's certainly true that Pavlik didn't look like he had much energy - even if he was getting outboxed, you'd expect him to throw some punches. But yeah, someone who can move quickly and cleverly and jump in with powerful, fast shots is always going to be difficult for Pavlik. There's no shame in one loss against an ATG guy two weight divisions above you on a bad night.
First, Hopkins got jobbed in the first Taylor fight. Second, Hopkins exposed to the world that Taylor doesn't like to get hit. Look @ what happened when he got tagged by Pavlik and Froch. Those were both fights where he had the other guy down and was on his way to winning a decision - that is until the hammer dropped. Hell, you can even look @ the Winky fight. Taylor didn't much like what the Wink was putting on him. Yes, Hopkins exposed Taylor. KO'ing a string of BUMs, STIFFs, Tomato Cans, and No-Hopers does NOT impress me. Well, outside of the left-hook and some ungodly stamina - what else did he have? Trinidad could be outboxed...
Wow. Barely 100 posts and you've already wearing the Dunce hat of the forum. According to you, Taylor got "exposed" by Bernard Hopkins - but still won the fight? :huh And Trinidad was a crap fighter, too? And Miranda was a bum? = IGNORE LIST! :hi:
