boo radley & hermit (less so than boo radley) subconsciously hope that paul williams & goosen drop the fight so they can claim the most avoided figher in boxing ducked their favorite fighter

I'm only thinking of Pdub's long term health and boxing career. I actually hope it gets made now since it seems people won't gripe KP is picking on Welters now......

And Kelly REALLY needs to get back in the ring soon.

first of all... you dont really mention so much of the "ducking" **** as boo does.... you just co-sign him because he's the only other real big pavlik supporter... BUT boo is the one who really wants pw to drop the fight

2nd of all... either way whoever wins there will be "gripes"... pw wins & pavlik was an over rated hype job... kp wins and pw was just a welter that pw knocked out ... the only way both guys will get props is if they go life and death with one another

Probably. I've never been keen on the fight to be perfectly honest. Let Pdub grow into the weight. It is good for both guys financially, short term, but long term, one will be derailed. A loss for Pdub wouldn't have been bad if all the crap about calling out Pavlik, Calzaghe and Bhop had never happened. But it did, so he kind of loses the 'weight issue' shield.

    You cunning little rat. :D

I think they'd prefer that the fight does happen and Pavlik wins. But I hear what you're saying.

There is no reason for me to want this to fall apart. What does my favorite fighter more good; demolishing Williams, or having Williams avoid him?

My fear is that Goosen is trying to take the Sauerland/Abraham route by making it LOOK like KP avoided Paul. It won't work because PW is a much bigger name in the USA than Abraham. Abraham is still virtually unkown outside of hardcore fans, so not much of what went on got any attention in the press. That's not the case with Paul. We know many important details. There is a good chance that Goosen will **** this up and end up damaging Paul's rep, cheating Pav out of a good win, and pissing off both HBO and Top Rank. Ya think I want to see that happen? Hell no! PWilly deserves better!

i dont think if paul loses that it automatically means he would lose to the other 2.... i think he would beat bhop easier than pavlik... calzaghe being the 3rd most difficult

honestly the only thing that concerns me about this pavlik fight is pauls chin & ability to focus... you & I both know the skill level is there and better then pavliks to be honest.... but can paul maintain focus on hsi game plan and with stand a banger at 160

edit: i guess he can grow into 160... i mean on one hand he's only had 2 recent fights at that weight... but on the other he would obviously beat anyone at the weight.. the only mystery is pavlik

Here's just a suggestion, it's obvious both guys are having a difficult time "working" with one another. I know we're all confident that this will happen but...what if it doesn't? I mean it's been a while now...and both of these dudes could use some work.

So on Oct 3rd, why not a double header? I mean believe me, I'd love to see Williams and Pavlik match up but why not a doubleheader card? Just so that these two guys can get some work in and then potentially work towards a main event fight?

I'm well aware that the fight would probably boil over who is the "main event" and what not but just do it like Cotto/Pavlik did. If it's a split locale event, Have the East Coast stuff first and then the stuff on the west coast later.

You could do Pavlik-Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams-Mustache Antonio Rubio and build to a main event between the two in the winter.

Just saying it's a step TOWARDS a potential working relationship, especially if they can't get these guys matched up.

I wouldnt even mind if it doesnt.. because the likely outcome will be

    kelly pavlik vs winky wright
    paul williams vs sergie dzinzurik

they have already established this will be the likely scenario... which is a pretty good constellation prize

Not conceding the part in red. Pavlik's style is built on what has brought him success. This reminds me of a line from "White Men Can't Jump". Something about white men being happy to be able to do something but black men aren't happy unless they LOOK GOOD doing it. With more emphasis on the latter than the former.

Originally I figured Dz would be easy to get going. That said I believe Dz is currently co-promoted by GBP...which means getting not two promotions together, not three but FOUR different promotional groups involved for two fights. Probably too messy man.

The thing I was thinking though WMM is that if we're looking at the casual audience, they might see Williams vs a guy at 154 and decide "Hey why would Pavlik pick on this guy?"

Not only that but Goosen and Arum would HAVE to work together to get Senior Mustachio vs Paul Williams to go and that might make it easier to break the ice.

Kelly vs Winky would be fun, especially considering the grudge that Pavlik harbors for Wink.

    Check the underlined part.

Sombody in this scenario made the Olympic trials at a mere 17 years of age. That same somebody scored a UD over Jermain Taylor, and that is something Hopkins and Wright failed to do. (Don't bother bringing up Williams/Wright. Jermain fought a MUCH better version of Winky than Paul did.)

yo... skill level & success rate have nothing to do with one another....cotto is way more skilled than antonio margarito and margarito beat his ass.... cheating or not...

joshua clottey is way more skilled the cotto but cotto found a way.....

im not talking about success rate.. im talking about ALL AROUND SKILLS

no casual fans care about paul or winky or pavlik really for that matter...hbo already said they would put up money for the dzinziruk fight so its there i guess.... just gotta see what happens with this pavlik fight

right and then bhop busted pavlik's ass... all this matchup stuff doesnt make a difference... neither does skill level

all im saying is paul is more skilled all around then pavlik is which he is... doesnt mean that he cant lose... its just what it is

The point IS to get them to care about it man. They're the ones who HBO needs to tune in to get Pavlik and Williams the biggest audience possible.

I'd like the Dz fight if Williams was destined for 154...but if the plan is to get 160 going then hey, play it safe I guess.
